My brain has decided today to take a little vacation :headache: and I would like to know the answer to this, please and thank you..:worship: How do I go about using my Disney reward dollars onboard the Disney Wonder in July? I am frustrated with this, I just can't remember how to do this...:sad2: :thanks::thanks:

You can request a reward dollar transfer to a card you already have or to a new card, either on the website or over the phone. Take that card to Guest Services and they will enter it on to your account.

You need to get a rewards card from Chase. You can order one online, by calling, or I've read that you can also get one at the Port on embarkation day. You then can take the rewards card to Guest Services and have them apply the reward dollars to your on board account.

I always order the rewards card a couple months ahead of time. You can order it with a minimum amount of dollars on it, either $10 or $20, I can't remember what the correct minimum is right now. Then right before the trip, I'll go online and transfer the remaining reward dollars to it. This way, I make sure I get all the available rewards dollars right up to the time of the trip and I don't have to stress about making sure it arrives on time.

Thank you for helping me to understand this and hopefully I will write it down as to
not forget... Bless You :-)

I have also received a card at guest services at Disney....not sure if the ship offers the same service.

You, Ma'am, are brilliant :worship:

Aw shucks. I don't know about brilliant. Definitely frugal though. I'm always looking for ways to maximize my savings on these trips.
BRILLIANT! :)

Yes, here too. That's what I didn't like about the rewards is the fact that we could have some left over. Lol, we requested Disney Gift Cards for christmas and got one each, plus used DMR to get a $10 gift card. $100 just like that! Granted, the waiting until vacation is not as easy lol
Do you think the old rewards card we got would still work? We got it in Fall-ish of 2013

The rewards card have an expiration date on them. They seem to be good for about 2 years. The one I have right now I requested last spring, probably March or April because we took a trip to WDW the last week of May. It is good until 12/31/2015. Although I have never done this, I have read that you can use the rewards card to purchase a Disney gift card at the Disney store or online. That way if you have rewards dollars on a card that's about to expire you can more or less transfer them to a gift card that doesn't expire.

Oh, that's good to know. Thank you! Also a brilliant idea!
I think ours is empty (Food & Wine does that lol) but I'll still see if we can put points on it and it's still valid.

Thanks again!

You can also call Chase and ask them to transfer the balance of a card that is about to expire to a new card. I did that just last week and they were happy to oblige.

They generally expire the end of Dec the year after you get it... so one ordered today would be good to 12.31.16. I didnt realize you could transfer to a newer card so thanks for that!

Also, we have had a fiasco with getting our card. I ordered one weeks ago that never came, canceled that and reordered only to have the next one also not show up! Ugh! Chase is supposed to be overnighting it to us, but my TA called DCL for us and she said you can absolutely pick up a new redemption card at any of their ports when you check in. It will be a blank card. Then you can call chase and apply any balance or in our case, if the new third card doesnt arrive they can cancel that and transfer the balance to the new card and we will be all set!

I did that and it was no problem at all -- made everything easier since we've got a lot of gift cards saved up. :)

They (used to) expire in december of the second year. so I THINK (and therefore NOT SURE) that your current card will expire december 2015. But you will have to check.

What I do KNOW is that any money that is on a card when it dies, dies with the card. You have to use it or loose it. I am not sure if you can transfer your balance from one card to another. you CANNOT transfer money from your card back to your account.

Points / money left on your ACCOUNT has a much longer window before it dies and goes away ... but again I am not certain of those rules (who can hold onto the credits THAT LONG :confused3) While on your account they may not expire or expire in 5-10 years ... read the rules.

I have the Premier card and I use my points to pay off a very small portion of my airplane tickets (a benefit only offered to the "premier Disney Visa")

Rewards Redemption Cards expire in December of the year following when you request the card. If you requested one in 2013, it expired Dec. 31, 2014. If you request one today, it will expire Dec. 31, 2016. But I'd always suggest to double-check your card to confirm the expiration date, especially if you haven't used it for a while.

Use it or lose it has always been my understanding. Once transferred to a Redemption Card, points cannot be transferred back to the account. Points remaining on a Redemption Card when it expires are lost. I was not aware points could be transferred from one Redemption Card to another, that's new to me, but maybe PP has more recent experience. I do know that you can purchase Disney gift cards with any points remaining to avoid losing them. The Disney gift cards have no expiration date.

Points expire 5 years after the month posted to your account. Your monthly statement should list out the point values and expiration dates for your oldest points. And related to the above - you can extend the life of those points by up to 23 months by transferring them to a Rewards Redemption Card -- the clock resets once the points are transferred. So if you are nearing the 5-yr expiration, transfer them to a Redemption Card and they'll remain good until the following December.[/QUOTE]

Actually the rewards card I just ordered last week has an expiration date of 12-31-16 so I would think if you got a card in 2013 it would have expired in 12 2014.

So right! Doing my math wrong... depending on when you order one, it's good for possibly as long as 23 months. Thanks for the correction!

We have a rewards card that expires half way through our trip this year. Do they send a new one out prior to the expiration? Like credit cards, they send one out about a month prior to the expiration date. I don't want to rack up all the points on our trip only to have the points lost because of the expiration.

You can have up to two rewards cards active at any one time. I'd go ahead and request a new rewards card and use that instead of the one with the expiration date in the middle of your trip. They will not automatically send a new card when the old one expires You have to order one.

Do you have points already transferred to the card which is expiring? Someone above mentioned that they were able to get Chase to transfer the points to a new card, but I wasn't aware that a transfer was possible. My understanding has always been that once the points are transferred to the rewards card, you must use them before the rewards card expires. If you do have points already on the old card, you could have guest services apply that card to your on board account at the beginning of the cruise so that it is used before the expiration date. All points that you have not already transferred should be transferred to the new card.

We used our reward card for a deposit on a cruise and when we canceled we were given the rewards back to our reward card. We then bought Disney gift cards with the points so they wouldn't expire. When we booked our new cruise last week we used those gift cards.
