Disney rewards question

Can someone tell me how the rewards work? I just signed up for the card, and have never used a card with a reward system. How much do I have to charge to earn a reward? I'm going to Disney in the beginning of Dec. Do I get a seperate reward card? How soon should I request my rewards so I have them in time to spend in disney?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have had the Disney rewards card since it came out. Once you start charging, you will earn a VERY small amount of Disney Dollars per charged amount. Once you accumulate enough Disney Dollars, you can request a "rewards card" - either call customer service and they will send you one - takes at least 10 days, or, if you are a procrastinator like I was, you can go to the information booth at Downtown Disney next to the movie theatre and they will give you one on the spot.
You use the 'Rewards Card' like a gift card - the receipt will show your remaining balance. You can also use it online at disney direct.

Wow, I didn't know this. I will be cutting it close as I applied for a card on the phone 7/8 and have not rec'd it yet. We leave for our trip 9/13. So, even if I don't have a rewards card (plastic, right) in my hand, I can take my Disney Visa to that booth and they will issue me one with my accumulated rewards on it? That would be great!

Any idea how many Disney Dollars per dollar spent?

They give you 1 Disney Dollar per every $100 dollars that you spend. I think you have to have $20 DD to get a gift card. When I signed up I got $50 DD just for signing up.
