Has anyone used the Disney rewards earned from the Visa card on the cruise?
I'm curious because I keep reading you have to use your room key for everything and I've been saving up my points. Just want to make sure I can use them!:space:

I've been wondering the same thing - about applying my Disney Reward points to my account for shipboard credit. I am also wondering if I could apply Disney Reward credit to my balance on what we owe for the cruise itself. Anyone know?

someone posted that you can go to guest services and put your reward dollars on your shipboard credit. I'm sure someone will post about it.

Yes, you can use your Disney Visa reward points! (We did it in February) Just be sure to have your card activated and points posted to it before your cruise. Then take your card to guest services and ask them to credit your account with the amount on your card. That's all there is to it - we plan to do it when we cruise again in December.

We have done this MANY times with no problem.

We've done this as well. Very simple process. Just take your card to Guest Services at any time during the cruise and they'll credit your stateroom account.

On our last cruise you had to call ahead and they sent you the Reward Dollars which you took to guest services and had added to you account. They were beautiful (I wish I saved one) but big and ackward so I understand changing to the card. You needed to time getting the dollars so you had all you could get sent in time, do you do that with the card also? We cruise in 4 months, should I get the card now or wait a while? If I get it now can I add what I earn in the next couple months on the the card I receive?

With the reward card, once you have the card, you can add the dollars online as soon as you have them (but it has to be a minimum of $10 to transfer, but doesn't have to be in increments of $10). Every month when I get my statement, I check online to see if I have more than $10, and if so, I go ahead and transfer it.

We have also used the reward card onboard and it was great having that extra credit...I used my reward dollars to offset my spa visit onboard.

I finally got enough reward dollars to order my card, but I think I'm going to wait until a month before the cruise. Then I'll add on to it right before we go. If you already have the card, how long does it take to transfer reward dollars to it?

If you transfer the rewards on the internet it only takes a few seconds. When I ordered my card it didn't even take a week to get to me, even way out here.

Someone posted sometime before that he heard citicorp was going to buy bankone. So I got kind of worried and got my card right away just incase they did and changed the rewards program. I hated to lose all that money. Better safe than sorry.

paulmc80 ~ Thanks.

I just found out you can only trasfer reward dollars, to your card, in 10 dollar amounts (after you've gotten your the card).

To transfer reward $ to your card can be done in minutes on line or on the 800 number. To get the card initially takes about a week.

To spend the reward $ from the card, you only have to go to Guest Services and ask to have it credited to your account.

is there a way to use your reward points to pay for the cruise itself? I'd really like to do this. How do you do that, if it is possible at all?

Thanks!

You would have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars probably. They are $1.00 for each $100.00 spent if I remember correctly. I don't know if DCL actually accepts rewards dollards a payment. If you use a TA they will not accept the rewards dollars as payment. You do get 6 months free interest if you use the actual Visa card to pay for your trip though.

Zandy....I don't think that is correct....I had a Rewards Card that I used onboard in Feb.....since then I accrued more points and just added them to my card yesterday...I was able to tansfer 39 points over with no problem. I think you MUST HAVE AT LEAST 10 POINTS in order to make a transfer. Hope this helped.

Disboo....the only way might be if you booked with DCL directly and that is not always the cheapest way. Many other agencies offer better rates than what DCL direct does. And, as Wog said...you would have to accrue many points in order to do that and you can only accrue up to $750 in a calendar year.

You could pay for a portion of your cruise with your rewards. But, you would have to book directly through DCL or with a TA who books directly through them and is willing to give your card number to them for payment. You should be able to split your cruise payment between your reward card and your credit card. Call DCL and I'm sure they can tell you how to do it. :D
