I am sure this has been asked before but there are so many threads here to go through so please bear with me if I am repeating anyone else's question. I am new on here as of this a.m and I am wanting to check to see if a dining plan would be worth it for our trip or should we just get there and check w/ every restaurant before we order? My son is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts and I don't want this to ruin his trip for him so am wanting to check ahead of time and do some research on which is the best path to take?

First of all you would contact Disney Special Diets. There is contact information on the DISAbilities board, or someone will come along here with the information. They will give you helpful information. Also, make ADRs for your table service, and note the allergy on all your ADRs.

I have a child with peanut/tree nut allergies as well.

Disney goes above and beyond to accomodate you. Our past trip (just a few weeks ago) we had 4 ADR at table services places. Before our trip/when making those ADR's online I had noted the allergies and it generated some special forms for me to fill out as well as giving me a list of all the peanut/nut free (safe) food for DD to eat.

At each ADR the server would ask about the allergy and assure us that everything on the kids menu was safe and then the chef would come out and speak to us as well. At Sci-Fi Dine-In our server even brought her order out seperately as to not risk cross contamination even though none of us ordered anything with nuts.

Our other ADR's were le Chefs de France, Chef Mickey's and Cinderella's Royal Table. We didn't have any problems finding anything for DD on the counter service menus either.

Hope that helps!!!!

Here is the info I received:

WALT DISNEY WORLD®
Food & Beverage

Dietary Request Information

On behalf of the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Food & Beverage Team, we are committed to making your stay as magical as possible as we strive to offer a wide range of food products for all of our Guests.

In our table service restaurants, we have a staff of trained chefs who will strive to meet your requests by adapting current menu items or developing items to fit your needs. In our quick service areas, we provide a wide range of items that likely will accommodate most dietary requests. Nevertheless, due to the cultural authenticity and cooking techniques of our Food & Beverage locations it is sometimes difficult to alter menus in certain locations.

Although we can take care to accommodate specific requests during the cooking and preparation process, due to the large number and ever changing variety of culturally authentic ingredients and suppliers used in many of our restaurants, we are unable to ensure that all prepackaged or prepared ingredients do not contain particular items of concern. Therefore, we ask that if you or someone in your party has a food allergy or other condition which might result in a severe reaction to a particular food ingredient or food additive, please use extreme caution in meal planning and contact us for assistance and dining suggestions. As always, although we strive to provide as much information to you as possible, the decision of whether to consume any particular product is up to you based on your evaluation of the particular circumstances.

Listed below is some helpful information when planning your time with us. Attached are some product specifications that may assist you as well. Please feel free to contact any of the below listed email addresses should you require any additional information.

We look forward to you having a safe and magical visit with us.

The allergies are a non-consideration from a dining plan perspective. Your son will never eat as well as he does at WDW. Actually, there is one consideration; with a dining plan you do not pay any up charge for allergy foods where are premade such as the chicken tenders but when you pay OOP there is an upcharge of a couple of dollars. This is only on a few items which are premade frozen items; most allergy safe foods cost the same as everybody else's food and again, this is only relevant if you pay OOP.

The disABILITIES! board has plenty of dining reviews from people with a variety of food allergies. Go check them out. You'll be amazed.
