Disney Restaurant Board Rant

but it doesn't really bother me. I welcome a good debate. If we all thought the same life wouldn't be very interesting. I like to hear the good comments and the bad. I do, however, take offense when folks attach another DISer for whatever reason. That is unnecessary. But, I'm a nice southern girl so maybe it's in my genes.

Not to prove your point :) , but i feel the opposite. This is one of the most friendly non confrontational boards here. I can't remember seeing anything close to the nasty personal attacks that the other boards have. Even the occasional "who has the best steak" debates are done without fights ;)

Yes i think you should spend some time on the other boards here and look. There are some you really have to think if you want to post a simple answer because somebody will take exception to some small part of it. This is one forum where most everything is opinion, and you don't get slammed for giving it.

Or maybe i missed some other posts that made you write this. I'd like to think not. :wave2:

There's only been one incredibly rude comment that I've seen on the Restaurant Board. Other than that, everyone has been very friendly and helpful. :flower:

Maybe you have a hard time understanding common courtesy. It's considered very rude to start new threads on Internet boards when the same topic is already being discussed on another thread. For example right now there must be eight threads dealing with the free dining on MYW this fall, yet rather than joining one of those, people are just starting a new one with more questions on the same topic. It clutters the board and makes the mods jobs harder.

do we have rules concerning posting of other threads and what is considered "rude"? yeah it may clutter the board but what about all the threads "just saying hi", "what to do on a lonely sunday night", etc etc....those clutter the board and seem to just be looking to chat....are those rude too? and while they aren't asking a question that has been addressed already they are pretty pointless.....

Actually, as I understand board rules, yes, just saying Hi and What to do on Sunday night are not restaurant board topics. You can post them over on the community board. But I am not a moderator.

I tend to disagree with ducklite, I don't think you should search up an old thread - things change, and the overwhelming sense of dejavu from "oh, no wonder this is familiar, its from six months ago" is disturbing. I find "bumping" old posts to be rude. But I do think that you should at least check the subject lines from the past few days so we don't have three "what character meal is best" threads on the first page.

We'd all do well to remember that this is the internet, what should (please?) be one of the last bastions of free speech/thought left in Dubya's increasingly blanded-out America. Let's not give up all of our freedoms.

OH SO TRUE!!! :rotfl:

Huh? I NEVER sugested digging up old posts from six months ago. I actually said looking to see what had been discussed in the past day or two. My point was exactly that it's absurd to "have three "what character meal is best" threads on the first page".

Personally it doesn't bother me to have several threads going on the same subject. You'll find different posters with varying opinions each thread.

While I will use the search function, I don't really care for it.

Case in point: I tried doing a search for " BWV Maximum Occupancy". I was looking for info regarding if you could have five in a one-bedroom ( go ahead and flame away, just wanted opinions). It turned up one thread "Is SSR going to be too large/overcrowded?" Huh???

So then I type in "Boardwalk Villas occupancy" and it returns with 12 threads ranging from "Pool Hopping when staying at DVC" to the 52 page "I was just shown the bill" thread. So I'd need to go through 12 different threads and the answer may or may not be in there. I know that there's been discussions regarding 5 in a one bedroom on the DVC board, so where are they on the Search?

So should I keep on searching through thousands of posts, or do I ask what I'm sure has already been asked before? I surely don't expect someone new to these boards or to forum boards in general to know what the search function and how to use it. And even when you do know how, you'll need to be VERY particular in your wording and have a lot of time on your hands.

Sorry to ramble on here, but it upsets me that people are so quick to jump on someone about asking a question that's been asked before. So what?? There's a preview pane on each thread, if you don't want read you don't have to open it.

That is the answer! You hit the nail squarely on the head. Gosh i hope they close this thread soon! I think I'll go figure out how to unsubscribe to it...9 days until we leave and this is making me a bit sad.

Common Courtesy, really?? Is also it common courtesy to call people lazy and stupid? Seems to me what makes common sense and what the courteous thing to do would be to ignore all the ad nauseum posts if you find them so very rude and annoying. I looked through the disboards guidelines and I failed to find anything concerning multiple posts. I would think that if the mods were as annoyed as you are, they would have done something about it. So what if there are 3 different threads about the best character breakfast? Not all the same people reply and everyone has different opinions, isn't that what this internet board is about, asking questions and getting "multiple" opinions?

This topic seems to have been thoroughly discussed and a few insults are starting to crop up, so I think it's time to close this thread.
