Hi All, will be visiting CCV & RIV next week and would like your feedback regarding whether or not pool temperature is comfortable for young children. I've never traveled to Disney in November. It's my understanding Disney will set temperature up higher than let's say September, but would like to hear from actual visitors during this time of year. Also, is there a better time of day?
thank you in advance!

I'm sure others will chime in with specifics, but my experience is that the pools are happily warm. However, the air outside the pool might be cold, depending on, you know, how cold it is, in which case being in the pool is fine--it's getting and being out of the pool that are the problems. I know this from direct experience. But that experience was in January, and it was 40 degrees out when I thought the pool was a good idea!

Yikes, you were very brave to try at 40 degrees! I agree the problem is mostly the temperature outside.
It's supposed to be in the mid 70's which doesn't seem high but for Florida you just never know.
Thanks for your feedback :o)

If the temp's in the mid-70s you should really be okay. It's the getting out of the pool and back to the room part that's hard if the temp is low. Other than that, the pools, at least in my experience, are nice and warm.

And have a great trip!

We just finished a stay at WDW and tried several pools. The water temperature was a little on the cool side. It took some getting used to but was ok after a few minutes. But it also was cool enough that even once we got used to it, we were happy to get out and dry off after about 15 minutes in the water.

A very different experience than we had in July, when we could have stayed in the pool all day long.

My in laws open their unheated pool once the snow melts, my toddler will want to go in said pool as early as humanly possible. I feel like kids DON'T CARE how cold the water is or the air is....at least mine doesn't/

I know some kids like this! Their lips will be blue and they will be like "I'm not cold...can I please keep swimming???"!!! :rotfl2:

We go yearly and my daughter goes in no matter the weather. One year there was a cold snap and while everyone else had on Coats hats, gloves, etc. we were swimming lol. Btw, there were tons of kids in the pool and the parents started talking and found out we’re all from Michigan 😁

Thanks all for the great feedback. We had a great trip and enjoyed the pool at RIV on the first leg of our trip, but only one day - felt too cold for a Miamian to be in the pool with overcast (crazy, I know) and I asked my son if he wanted pool time and he said no for rest of trip lol (we did however enjoy warm baths in jacuzzi tub).

Having said that, temperatures during the day were mid 70's and nighttime dropped into 60's high 50s and there were kids/adults in pools until closing time (10pm) consistently at both resorts, Riviera and Wilderness Lodge. We did movie night 3 times during our trip and used plenty of towels to stay warm while pools were jumpin'! Overall great time and "rock on" to all those that enjoy every minute of pool time!

side note: Poolside Bingo at Riviera was amazing! cast member was great hostess and went above an beyond to ensure all kids were having a great time (whilst socially distanced). Pandemic protocols were never an issue. Thanks Riviera!

The pools are heated, but the splash pads do not appear to be heated. We stayed at the GF last year over thanksgiving and went 1 or 2 days to the splash pad when it was close to 80 degrees and daughter was shaking after awhile. It all depends how windy and sunny it is.

We really want to use Storm along bay while we are there in january. Its got to be challenging to keep a pool that big heated. Is it colder than other pools?
Do people ever wear wetsuits?

I've never seen anyone in wetsuits but go for it, why not. Never thought of it but sounds like a great idea.

For me, the priority is that my son not have blue lips or get sick.
I know it sounds silly, but my mom didn't even let me wash my hair on cold winter south Florida nights. freezing temp down here is anything below 65. We spend most of the year in the high 90's, sunny, 99% humidity (which isn't comfortable). Water temperature in our pool during summer hovers between 85 & 92. No, we don't have a pool heater.
