Disney Resort Collection Question???

Hi All, Trying to throw together a last minute trip...On the general Disney site, I see rooms available to the public. When I called DVC Member services those rooms are not available to DVC members and everything is showing up booked...is there a point in time when they open up those rooms to DVC members? I realize I need to pay the $95 cost and not the best use of points, but at this point we had banked alot of points and really would love to sneak in a trip...Thanks!

Are you within the last 4 months of your UY? If so the Rule of 4 comes into play and you will not be able to use them outside the DVC resorts.

Are any of your points resale points? They cannot be used for the Disney Collection.

On the website, are you looking at DVC resorts that are available? Those are not available for points stays - a few reason - (1) they might not be owned by members and are owned by Disney and the developer, (2) members may have traded out their points to book a non-DVC Disney trip. So those points must be turned into money to pay for the member's trip, meaning the equivalent of those points is offered for sale for cash.

Yes, We are within the four month window...and I was looking at DVC, no availability or minimal days, and Disney Resorts as well, was hoping to trade out for a Disney resort...any chance things may open up as we get closer?? Is there a window I should watch for??? Thanks!

Are you saying you have less than four months until the end of your UY? Things don't open up this time of year. Everything gets booked up for mid-Sept past the Disney Marathon in January at six or seven months out. You need to book your home resort seven months out at the latest during these months.

You will not be able to book due to the Rule of 4.
Which basically says, you can not make and take a vacation within the last four months of your UY outside of DVC resorts.

No our use year is August so we can trade out to a Disney resort...Disney's website is showing room availability but DVC member services is not (different block of rooms)...was just wondering if at some point they release those resort rooms so they could be used by DVC rather than having them go unused...

The rooms they are showing for cash now are not ones that can come back to DVC to reserve with points or for DVC discount. You need someone to cancel an exsiting DVC reservation and you get the reservation without someone else on wait list getting it first.

I think the OP is trying to book regular Disney hotels through the Disney Collection, not DVC.

Sometimes the various exchange aspects including DCL or Disney hotels will limit the number of rooms for DVC or various discounts. I'm not familiar with whether they tend to release them later.

No more rooms will be released. No DVC rooms for points (unless they sell a whole bunch of Polynesian points in the next week or so and release some studios at the Polynesian for points). If MS isn't offering any non-DVC hotel rooms to reserve using DVC points, then no more will be available. Those are limited by DVC.

Thanks for the response...ironically some one and two bedroom at Saratoga Springs became available...we have never stayed here before...think that's what we are going to book. Doing the happy Disney dance!
