okay, so we first started this whole year off planning AKL 12/1-12/7

then changed weeks, because I have a make or break final the 8th, and well, at disney I would feel guilty not studying..and if i were to study at disney i would feel guilty..for being at disney and studying!

so we switched, 12/12-12/18...to BWI...then to Poly...then to Contemporary

andddd with me looking at all of these threads of photos, I priced CSR and for 1,000 less, we could get all of the amenitities (okay, we would need a rollaway bed whereas CR would provide a day bed) that CR would. we have garden wing, so technically we won't be suuuuuuuper close to the monorail

so i need input CR DxDp $3737 or CSR DxDp $2489:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

Not sure what to tell you. That is a significant savings but the CR is a lot more convenient for two of the parks because of the monorail. Only you can decide which is more important - the savings or the convenience.

You're first question to yourself is will I ever be able to stay at CR again. We stayed Poly CL for $300 a night 5 yrs ago, I asked myself will I ever be able to stay here again. No probably not (had just paid off all CCs and deserved a treat) we stayed and had an awesome trip. We only went to MK, I told myself we only use monorails and boats this trip. We spent a lot of time at the resort. DD loved the pool, you'd find us there everyday.

So ask yourself, Will I ever be able to do this again??

We've stayed at both, but CSR more. With a $1200+ difference, honestly, I wouldn't have to debate this very long in my mind. But, we tend to be in our room very little, so I'd rather spend the extra money on other things. It's cool to be in a monorail resort, but I'd be sitting on the bus from CSR computing how much I am saving by spending a little extra time on the bus...and how much extra I can spend at World of Disney because of it. :) Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I'd do CSR if I was going to be in the garden wing. We stayed in the garden wing in the spring and we were always going by at least two or three people smoking at the designated area between the resort and the garden wing. It probably isn't too much more convenient either unless you're right by the entrance to the garden wing.

I really didn't find CR to be special enough to be worth the extra price.

I really like the CR, but CSR looks nice and for that price it would be a no brainer for me.

I'd go with the CR! It's incredibly convenient to the MK and of course has the monorail. The resort is a big part of our vacation. We spend a lot of time at our resort relaxing and enjoying the amenities & we're not the park commando type so we don't mind spending the extra $$ on the hotel portion of the vacation.

I agree with you. I plan every vacation likes its the last. I always get the best I can afford at the time. Circumstances in life change and I never know if I will have the opportunity again. If staying at the CR is what you want and you can afford it I would do it. I wouldn't worry about the cms hating you. Its what they get paid to do. The more people calling the better job security they have. Have a great trip.

I had the Poly booked at an awesome deal because of the 40% off code. However, when FD came out I priced some more quotes and by staying at POR I saved over $1600. While I would LOVE to stay at the Poly, I can't justify spending that extra money knowing that we love POR already. So I switched and I'm happy with my decision and I can't wait to go! Besides, we spend little time in the room itself anyway.

I would say since it is a garden wing, go with CSR. If it were a tower room, I would say CR.

1) Hate might be too strong.
2) Of course, you can change as much as you want.
3) But, every time you call, you cost them money
. . . ressie folks are on an average-sales-dollar-per-minute-call basis
. . . the quota is a requirement and a bonus qualifier
. . . if they make bonus, they can make twice their hourly pay in bonus
. . . every call that does not result in a sale costs them quota dollars
. . . a change is not a sale, as it goes to the first person who sold you
. . . so, they have to make up the lost sales-per-minute with another person
. . . if they do not, they can miss their monthly quota
. . . if they miss quotas four times in one year, they can be fired
4) So, make your changes if you must, but get off the phone quickly

I would go with the Contemporary because compared to Coronado Springs I think they have a much better overall location, theme, atmosphere, more transportation options, bigger rooms and they only have one Garden Wing building which is a 5 minute walk or less to the Tower. Coronado Springs is spread out way to much and you can be far away from their main building.

Seeing as WDW does not have a section on their website for guests to chanage their reservations unless one is coming very soon with their next set of dates when their reservation system is going down again, I don't feel bad for anyone who needs to call as many times as the OP did and there is no way I would get off the phone quickly until I know exactly what type of reservation we want. Considering the cost of what a trip to WDW costs anyone who calls their reservation centers should not be rushed off the phone to get their reservations confirmed right away, just so the Cast Members can take as many calls as possible. So if anything it's the fault of WDW managment for putting all these quotas and etc on the call center Cast Members and not giving the guests an easier way to change their reservations online. Plus I am sure the OP and a lot of other guests don't know exactly how their call center reservations work with their quotas and etc.

For our reservation this December at the Boardwalk Inn before we switched there we spent a good amount of time on the phone with the Cast Member because we were trying to find a combination of days that worked out best for us and to make sure the specifc room we wanted was still available with the Bounceback rate. So there was no way we could have got off the phone quickly and we don't feel guilty about taking a long time.

since you're doing the deluxe dining plan, i think CR is a better option. it gives you easy access to a larger number of restaurants. CSR only has one TS restaurant. For the rest, you'll have to go to a park or transfer to a resort. This can be time consuming on top of the time sitting down for those meals.

If you're content with the added travel time or possibly restricting your meals just to the parks, then save the money. otherwise the monorail and boat access would be beneficial. unless of course you plan to drive to all your meals.

So I am guessing you work there? I'm sorry I won't fret to ever pick up the phone to call, and when I do they are always very polite and never seem to rush the call. Matter of fact on a few occasions we have ended up talking about a thing or two aside from the reason for the call. :thumbsup2

True, but it's still the low man on the totem pole getting screwed here. I typically try and get as much info and questions answered on the Dis first and then call to book once I know I'm ready to book. I've yet to get a question not answered on here, aside from "Does X hotel have any availability for X date?" in which case I"m prepared with a back up hotel.

I agree but sometimes things can't always go the way we want when making reservations by phone. Like I said in my previous reply before we switched to the Boardwalk Inn we had a reservation from December 13 - 25 at the Contemporary with their Bay Lake View, however since were driving we forgot that everything is basically closed on Christmas Day which is the date when we would check-out and start driving home. So we then tried a series of various dates for the Contemporary in their Atrium Club Level rooms in the month of December using the Bounceback promotion and none of those rooms were available for any dates we told the Cast Member. However once he told us a Standard Club Level Room at the Boardwalk Inn was available from December 9 - 23 and we then decided to take it. So even though it took us a while to get the reservation we finally got something we wanted which was good for us and it's not like we called and did nothing, which would have wasted the Cast Members time.

Yes, and that is exactly what I was getting at-you were smart and had a plan B in mind to defer to since your plan A did not work out. & you ended up making your reservation at the end of the call. What I think must be so annoying to CM's (though most are too nice to admit it) is people who ask a million questions that could be answered by just looking through the website or reading the Dis or another online message board. 15 minutes of these questions followed by "well let me check it over with my family & I'll have to call you back"..... ugh :(

I have absolutely no problem calling and changing my reservation to a different hotel, and have done so a few times this trip for various reasons.

The fact of the matter is I am still dropping just a tad over $3 grand on the trip, and Disney knows I will spend a few hundred more at the parks. If Disney wants to get me off the phone faster for those changes they should seriously revamp their system because my informing them of the change usually takes 2 minutes, yet I have to wait for their system to update and what not and that takes 5 + minutes.
