Disney Quilt(s)

Another member answering some questins I had noticed the fabric tag I have and asked if I had ever made a Disney Quilt.

So I am passing it on to all of you out there.

I did make one a few(million) years ago. And every trip to ECPOT I try to find out how/who could get fiber art into the Art Studio they have near the exit(on the left as you leave).
No luck.

I have written every Disney Ex. I could think of and suggested a Disney Quilt Show. No luck. I was told several years ago that they did not think any one would care about quilts/fiber. Told that CM I don't see a lot of naked people walking around, they did not get it.... I even had on a quilted jacket.

I would have considered a virtual quilt show, it is a little better then nothing....

Disney does every thing else, and with the growth of fiber arts and the fact that it is a Trad.American Art form it could be big.
Look at the quilt shows in Houston TX, Padauka(sp)Kent., Tokyo Japan, and else where.

So how about it folk? I have worked on Show Comit. 5 or 6 times state wide here, and have shown Nationally.
They could use it as background art in ? hotels, ECPOT, ?

Think of a Fiber/Quilt/Wearable art Show like Food and Wine.

I've made one Disney quilt. It's Winnie the Pooh, and I made it for my DD Leah when she was sick and ended up in the hospital.

I love making quilts and think that would be awesome.

I also think this would be fun... there is so many ways to do something like this. Either use Disney fabric and a trad. pattern to make the quilts. Or use some of the Disney comic/drawing books as patterns for applique. And that opens up a ton of ideas....

I have a coat I plan on making using photos from the Disney parks in Cal, Japan, and Fl. I have been to as the background. Then comic book type drawing of characters; Mickey, Donald, Ches. Cat, et. to fill in on streets/rides. It has been fun getting glow in dark thread and color changing threadto use as the fireworks and that adds to indoor/night time surprises.

Hope/wish we could get something started with all of this....

I am interested in making a Disney-themed quilt. What have others made in the way of Disney quilts. Are there Disney character quilt block patterns out there somewhere?
