Disney Quest

Me too. They should still include admission...Its the right thing to do!
We are going in June, purchased tickets in January with water park and hopper. I emailed this week to see if DQ was included and got a reply yes.

We went to Disney Quest a few years ago and it was a ghost town then. Rumor has had it that they will be closing it for years. I loved Disney Quest but maybe they could bring something new and fresh in.... maybe like a Disney Museum :)

I've always thought that Disney Quest should be a part of Epcot. I would love to see Disney Quest re-imagined in Epcot somewhere near Innoventions or where Journey Into Imagination is. We love Innoventions and would love to see some of the interactive family games of DisneyQuest like Pirate Ship and Whitewater rafting and Magic Carpet Ride included. Wish that they would also bring back the recycling family game that use to be in Innoventions, the one with the shopping cart. Quest is something we loved but couldn't always get to. It it was in Epcot, it would receive the love it deserves.

My daughter wants to go to DQ. No WP&M tickets because have annual pass. What is the admission cost? I really hope it is half price because whatever admission is it is going to be too much.

Would it be so hard for Disney to just have a nice arcade? No special attractions just a wide range of machines. I wonder how much coin op stuff would make given the foot traffic. I certainly would have spent more than 0 dollars there on multiple occasions if that were the case. If there were a place to have a nice arcade it would be Disney springs. It would be one of the best areas to host tournaments/ selection not found elsewhere considering the amount of players that would make a vacation out of it. Disney created the wide world of sports yet they have nothing for the video game culture. In today's world where video game tournaments are increasing in popularity I think it would be a really smart move.

Disney has been getting rid of arcades not putting more in or expanding them I can't see anything more happening.

I'm not sure what tier it started on, but I had DQ access as part of my annual pass last year. I don't know if it's still valid on the new setup.

I don't know if they are. They just aren't popular anymore. DisneyQuest and the resort arcades just don't get a lot of people.

I disagree - video games are incredibly popular...just not the way Disney has presented them. They've let Disney Quest get old, tired, and broken...who wants to pay for that?

If they were ever to keep the site, they needed a total rethink and a capital infusion - they wanted to do neither, and so it sits...

That's just it. Disney doesn't want to keep paying to update something like this. Video games are changing all the time. Better graphics, software, hardware, now virtual reality and more. Disney doesn't want to pay for something that is ever changing so they will let it get old tired and broken.

Id love it to become a new "one man's dream" and include the animation drawing sessions like in dhs

I'm not sure if people are aware of how popular esports is getting. Espn now has a page dedicated to coverage and has broadcast some events. Twitch is getting big and tournaments everywhere are growing. Classic systems are seeing renewed interest for competition. There is definately a way to tie in disney quest to this market. Video games are a larger industry than movies right now.

Personally I just don't think Disney would go into that market. They have their own video games but that is not where they make their money. They make it from TV/Movies and the parks.

Video Games are very popular, arcades not nearly so much. They've been disappearing everywhere for a long time now. The problem is the home consoles are almost as good.

Again, this is the rethink...there are 5 huge floors for providing an entertainment experience. There are hugely popular tournaments run nationwide (and worldwide) for multiple popular video games on all devices (consoles, PCs, retro consoles, etc). There are now "celebrities" and "sports stars" in the gaming industry. There is enormous money and popularity to be made getting a piece of that and there's no reason Disney couldn't...except they don't prioritize it. Heck, having a "food and wine" event at Disney Quest, but instead of "food and wine" have it be "video game celebrities" and "new game demos" and "sanctioned tournaments and friendly celebrity 1-on-1s" for 4-6 weekends would be a huge event (you could focus on a different game/league per weekend or you could do this all year with 1 weekend per month). You could take a single floor or two, gut them, and make them into areas which would support this type of event (with an audience). You wouldn't have to gut and redo all 5 floors at once to save this site...you could start with a floor or two and get in with cash flow while you improve the other 3...and you could keep 1/2 the floor usable as console/PC play during "normal" hours...

This is just one idea...I've got a few...

Almost? :)

I know that DCL uses home consoles in their activity rooms for teenagers.
The last time I went to an arcade, it was full of retro games that can easily be played at home. Even the stuff at places like Dave and Busters largely can be played at home.

I think a blended indoor activity center where kids can exhaust themselves would be the ticket.

I agree. Sadly, my sons will stop whatever they're doing (including going to the parks) to play video games. It's not hard to have a well thought out arcade/activity center especially if they leverage the disney infinity franchise and ps4,etc. they need to move away from the standalone arcade boxes and incorporate the current hardware/software available that kids like today (i.e.: tvs + consoles) that are way more adaptable.

Plus, they need a real indoor refuge from heat and rain that people/kids will actually want to go to. If Dave & Busters, Laser- bounce (local spot) can do it with indoor bowling and more, why can't disney?
