If my DS 9 earns a promotion to 4th grade, his reward will be a day at DisneyQuest. Can anyone tell me about it and what is there. I've never been and the tiny bit they have on the promotional DVD isn't very informative. It looks cool to my 9 year old!

Thanks.

It is an interactive arcade style place. It has a 3-D game for POTC, you get on this "ship" with six or eight cannons, there are screens all around you, and you were 3-d glasses. You steer next to other ships, and shoot the cannons at them to sink them, when you sink them, you get their treasure. It is pretty awesome. There is also an Aladdin Magic Carpets ride, where you put on one of those virtual reality helmets on, and ride around on a magic carpet collect jewels while trying to save Jasmine. That is another really cool game. There is also a Buzz Lightyear game, where you and someone else get in a car, drive around picking up these balls and shooting them at other people. When you hit their target, their car will spin. This is in actual vehicles, this isn't a video game, kind of like bumper cars but with cannons. And also, they have a cheesecake factory inside, don't fill up too much on lunch, because dessert is the best! Hope that helps, there are other attractions too, like there is one level of classic arcade games, and another level with newer arcade games. It is really a blast, I can't really stay an entire day in there, as I would get bored afterawhile, but I can stay in there for a good chunk of the day.

Our family (DH, DD12, DS14 and me) used one of tickets' extra options and went there for the first time the end of September. They didn't really know what to expect and my husband was skeptical. We got there shortly after it opened, around 11:30 AM. It was awesome. My husband had a blast with all the old pinball machines. My son loved all the arcade games. We did all the family virtual reality games and totally enjoyed them all. The kids did the design-your-own-rollercoaster probably 20 times. It wasn't crowded at all until the evening. My daughter enjoyed the Create Zone where everyone can sit at a desk and learn how to draw characters, she also made her own cd's. We left briefly for dinner and then went right back and stayed until it closed at 11 PM or something like that. Boy did we get our money's worth. And the best part was that when I needed a break, I could go out and shop or wander around, or just sit outside and people watch, and then go back in. We ate lunch inside and we could send e-mails to friends there too.

My DH and I went there before our flight out and had a great time. We were sad that we didn't experience this sooner. My husband became a little kid again. We couldn't believe how interactive the games were and how realistic they seemed. This is not something that we have ever experienced when playing games. It's like you are inside the games, playing. When we go next summer we are going to spend more time there.

Like others say, if you can, go during the day on a weekday. It's mostly empty. Evenings and weekends are pretty crowded with people who visit after a day at the parks and local teenagers.
