Disney Quest - worth it?????

Just thinking of upgrading our package to include Disney Quest - is it worth it for family with 17 yr old and 10 yr old?

My two DS were 15 and 12 last trip we made and we took them to DQ for the first time. Well, they loved it, the 15 year old said it was his favorite thing all week. If your kids like virtual reality games, arcade games, video games and/or computer art type stuff, they should like DQ.

Even though I haven't been to DQ yet, I think it will be worth it. Your kids are the perfect age for the attractions there. I included this in our ticket package - I wanted to go last time we were there but never made. My kids are 7 and 10.

I absolutely would, especially with kids those ages.

DisneyQuest is an indoor park with several floors of virtual reality games and fun group experiences. You can stand on a ship and shoot pirates in 3D, paddle your way through a "Virtual Jungle Cruise," and design and ride your own roller coaster, among other things.

But beware... there's also a floor full of classic arcade-style games. If your kids are into video games, they could end up getting sucked into spending lots of time on that floor! (Personally, I find that part to be a waste of time, since I could play arcade games anywhere.) Still, I think the experience of the whole thing is a lot of fun and a great add-on when you're looking for a unique experience.

Disney Quest is awesome! Even if we don't go to the theme parks, we always do DQ. My kids (now 11 and 14) have loved it for years! Pirates of the Caribbean is our family favorite, and you can't beat the food - Food Quest is run by the Cheesecake Factory!

If you don't want to change your package, you can just buy tickets separately. Ticketmania has them for $20 for kids and $24 for adults (even less if you are a Mousesaver member and got the most recent newsletter).

Adding the "plus" option to your package costs $48 (with tax) per person and really isn't worth it unless you are going to DQ three times or more before the tickets expire.

The DQ tickets from Ticketmania are also good forever (although in the interest of full disclosure, I did read in the Passporter that DQ might be turned into an ESPN Zone).

it is worth it...i could spend a day there. there are some pay games, the kind you get tickets for. but there is enough to do where you will never have to play those. my kids dont even want to play those. it is awesome.

Yes, the arcade games are free which makes them attractive. My DH spent time in there playing his classic favorites and didn't perceive it as a waste of time. The only things you pay for inside are food and I think you can choose to pay for a video of something? Maybe someone else can elaborate, because DH took my DS's, I was shopping I do know "virtually" everything is free!

There is one level at DQ with things like skee ball, puck bowling, and other video type games that dispense tickets. These game cost $$$. You purchase a card from one of the CMs. I think we gave her a $20 and we got a card with 50 game credits. Cards range from $5 to whatever you want to spend. The tickets from the games can be redeemed for the typically cheap carney type prizes. The boys actually did well and got enough tickets to get their mom a Disney Quest t-shirt. So $20 for a t-shirt and the fun of playing all those games, not bad.

In general, DQ was a blast. The virtual reality games were fun, and the time warp to the old games where you could play Space Invaders, Joust, and other classics made it worth the entry. We went twice during our 9 day stay, using "plusses" (we had 5 plusses to use). Didn't stay too long either time. Both times were ~ 7pm in the evening. not too crowded either time. DW is not a HUGE video game fan, so after doing some of the family things and te obligitory game of skee ball, she took a stroll through DTD. WHen she returned, we headed back for the hotel.

DH and I loved that area too...we'd buy 2 $20 card and have a blast for a couple hours.

But - since last september I think - that entire section has been MIA. (good thing too - the games needed some SERIOUS help!). We love other stuff at DQ (Buzz lightyear, Pirates of the Carribbean, Pin ball slam)...but so much stuff was broken down/missing (that maze game with the cars under the floor) last few time we've been that we didn't even bother adding the plus option to our tickets this time.

hopefully in a few years it'll be back to what it used to be.

We tried DQ for the first time this visit and the kids absolutely loved it! We didn't even go to the floor with any pay games - my kids thought it was only food up there. There is so much to do and explore. The create zone was one of their favorites and they loved doing the animation academy class (only lasts 15 min. but very fun) POTC was a blast for the whole family and so was Buzz and the Pinball Slam. Some areas get quite loud though just to prepare you. I think your children will have a great time and we liked getting out of the heat for a while as well.

You do have to pay for food and beverages. There is a Cheesecake Factory there!
