Oldest DS just e-mailed me that he heard DQ is closing in 2008. Can this possibly be true?????

TC :cool1:

disney denies

look at the reference article in the orlando paper listed in the disneyquest wikipedia article (I can't post URLs yet)

My understanding is that they made an anouncement that yes it was closing and ESPN on the Boardwalk was closing and they were building a Mega ESPN ZONE on the DQ location.

Can't say I'm sorry to see it go. Although why we need a Mega ESPN Zone is beyond me.

Because unlike me it gives other DH's a place to go and watch the games while thier kids play games and go to the parks. The foods good as well and DTD can always use another draw that goes into the Disney coffers.

I hope it's not true! We love DQ!!!
If they need a bigger ESPN, why there?? They have land everywhere!!

I'm sad! One of my family's most favorite place to hang out inbetween park visits! And, you could almost always find me in one of the Cheesecake Express Booth's on the internet...probably on the disboards!! :surfweb:

Great burgers and fries!!

Actually I have two kids. if they had an ESPN zone inside the DQ, I'd understand your point here. Or if they didn't already have an ESPN zone. But they're building an ESPN zone farther away from kids stuff and tearing down the one at the Boardwalk. So whats your point?

My point is that DQ never made the money Disney hoped thats why the other 5 planed never opened. The ESPN on the boards is not big enough for what they want to do so why not combin the 2 in a place that would not take a complete overhaul and put it in a failing location.

Do I agree with it NO DD loves DQ and we go at least once a trip .Another reason we bought into SSr was the DTD location we spend lots of time there.

I also read all the time the SOME DH or DF want to just go somewhere sit and watch some games while drinking. This is not me thats all I was saying but there is a need for it on-sight.

With the closing or rehabing of PI I think Disney is trying to draw more Family type places into DTD .

What we liked about ESPN were the sandwiches. Hope that part stays at BW.

Actually, I think putting in a sports bar in a DQ is not a terrible idea. I for one wouldn't waste my time at DQ and apparently I'm in the majority since they couldn't keep the Chicago one open and are planning to close the WDW one. Maybe they should put a kids park at the Boardwalk where the current ESPN deal is. To make the place a real Boardwalk, a ferris wheel and some smaller Paradise Peir attractions would fit in. And parents can get tanked at the ESPN zone there or the pub or whatever. As it is, the Dance Hall is a waste of space.

Now we're talkin! :cool1:

The ESPN at BW is terrific, but let's be honest here. This is Disney. ESPN is one of their biggest brands. The ESPN Zone at WDW oughtta be the biggest and best anywhere. I hope this rumor turns out to be true.
