Disney Premier Visa Card

I also received the offer by mail. I call and ask a few questions. I have a lot of auto payments set up. Card numbers stay the same but expiration dates change. So, all the auto payments have to be changed.

I signed up.:goodvibes With recent add on hitting my card two days after up grading plus an upcoming trip to buy passes for, I will more than make up the $49.

The person I spoke to on the phone was confident that my DVC add on would qualify for the 5%. I will know for sure in a few days.

I am currently purchasing DVC and the CM was very sure that DVC would qualify for the 5%. I just hope I get my new card before my deadline to pay. Also, she said there wasn't a limit on the dollars you could earn. I pray she is correct. It'll be our dining and spending for our next trip if she is.

I tried doing this with another card and found out they didn't classify my grocery store as "grocery".

You might check with Chase and make sure they don't have any weird categories.

I just went through our year end statement and some of the stores were listed in such random categories. CVS was one of them (can't remember the category it was in, but it was completely wrong).

If you're a current Chase customer, the 2011 year end statement available on the Chase website shows the totals for each category for the past year.

We charge pretty much everything to the Visa and pay it off every month. I was skeptical at first, thinking I wasn't spending much more than the $4900 it would take to offset the annual fee. Turns out our 2011 expenses were more than 4x that number!!

There do appear to be variances in how different chains and even different locations are categorized. Regular Target stores appear to get a General Merchandise category (ineligible for 2%) while Super Target stores are listed as Grocery and get the 2%. Fortunately local stores like WalMart, Meijer and others are showing up under Grocery. So any purchases at those--regardless of what we buy--earn the 2%.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the card? Our dues are due by Feb. 14th and this would definitely would make it worth it!

I know what you mean. I looked at my statement too and my grocery charges alone were over $5000.:scared1

We always use are rewards to pay our MF's. Maybe, next year we might have a little extra to do something fun with.:goodvibes

I am continuing to debate this. I use my current Disney Chase card a lot but mostly for general shopping. We buy most of our gas at Costco with their American Express card and we get 3% back for that. That card also pays 2% for travel and restaurants and there is no fee. The primary gain for us would be groceries, but there are only 2 of us so we only spent $4479, which would have earned an extra $44 dollar reward with the new card. I am not sure how AmEx categorizes Disney tickets, and that might make the difference for us. I do HATE the idea of having to change the expiration date on all my auto payments. I just did that a few months ago and it was a pain.

I am too trying to figure out if it is worth it, already paying for a SW Chase card since we travel SW the most and prefer the air. Does anyone know what airlines the new card can be used for?

Sorry, I had a whole response typed and my computer crashed.:rotfl:

When I called and enrolled, I was told the card would take about three business days to arrive. My account was active when I got off the phone.

I can log on to chase and see the new account activity and my current card is still working. I am already racking up those points. :goodvibes

My understanding is: you pay your air and then turn it in for credit so it would not matter what airline:confused3

There is a whole tread for Disney VISA rewards on the forum. There may be a lot more info there.

It works with any airline. You don't use your rewards card (or a voucher) with the airline itself. You basically charge your airline tickets onto the Disney Visa, then call Chase and tell them something along the lines of, "The charge on Feb 15th for $359 was for airline tickets. I'd like to use $125 my reward dollars toward that flight." They then take your reward dollars and credit your account with that amount.

Thank you :)

We just got the SW Visa too, since it seemed to be a bette deal than the Disney that we had been using. Now I don't know which to do--we only fly SW---so you all think that the Disney card is the better deal? I think I trashed my invite.....:rolleyes1

For the life of me I never understood why Disney Visa only gave 1% on Disney purchases.

So I use my Costco AMEX card at Disney and receive 2% on hotels and restaurants and cruises. 3% on gas, 2% on groceries.

I got the offer, but it is not worth it.

I just checked and they are offering a $100 credit when you use this card. Can this be combined with the 5% 3-month offer? That would be awesome!

I like to pay for purchases as I go, using my VISA debit card. I do have a Chase Disney Visa, but use it only when a credit card is needed so I don't accumulate a lot of points, but then again, I don't get a shock when the bill arrives either. I don't want to pay the $49 annual fee, so will keep my existing card.

I just answered my own question - no. I switched over! I hope they don't come out with better offers like they did the first time I got the card. I didn't get any incentive except for the 'day one' indication on my card. Later I found deals of up to $200 just to sign up :sad2:

I just want to confirm before I switch that the 5% back counts towards gift cards both bought through the grocery store (assuming my grocery store is categorized as a grocery store) as well as the Disney Store.

We will do it for one year, since that 5% back will be great as we pay for this years trip. I am not sure if we will do it next year. Our capital one gives us 2% back on everything and the annually fee is only $10 more.

Does anyone know when the 5% starts? As soon as you receive the card, or in the next cycle? I signed up for and received about two weeks ago. We are going to WDW 5/13. I'm wondering if I made a big mistake...if I'd waited a few weeks my trip would have fallen into the 3 month window? I guess I can cancalculate how much we'll need for the trip and buy a Disney gift card before the end of the 3 month window. Will this work? :confused3 I think I'm going to give them a call.

I was told it starts immediately.

If you'll just miss the deadline, buy Disney Gift Cards for the trip. I bought a $500 card from a local grocery store. Got some gasoline discounts through the grocery store's reward program plus the 5% from Chase.

Gift cards purchased from DisneyStore.com should also qualify for the 5%.
