Disney Power Cell Chargers

Stacy - thanks. The one I was looking at is actually smaller and (says) it gets nearly 3 charges for Galaxy 6 phones. Who knows though if that is true and if that makes it worth an extra $15.

And to the mod - yes, what we're discussing is the pros and cons of the fuel cell. As you say, the tradeoff is convenience vs cost and performance.

I wonder if there are a lot of kiosks, and if they are ever empty?

Resorts have one kiosk. All parks and Disney springs have multiple except for ak that only has 1. They do empty but get refilled through out the day by a fuel rod rep. There's also a number to call if you ever have issues right there on the kiosk, most problem are resolved immediately

This subject has been discussed in several other threads. While you can find a cheaper alternative, the value of the fuel rod comes with the fact that you can swap for a fully charged one while at the parks, so there is no risk of running out of battery and no need to recharge your portable charger yourself
Okay. I was responding to a posters questions about options outside the fuel rod.

It's a personal preference for everyone!

I grabbed a fuel rod at the airport few weeks ago, it was $20+tax. Got it for upcoming Disney trip... Like going bagless to the parks and this will fit in pocket vs my other portable charger which is a brick. If hauling a heavy backpack around anyway, a larger charger is probably better.. but the fuel rod is better for going light.

My friend and I are doing the Fuel Rods at Disney. We are going to split the cost since once a phone is charged we can just swap it out. I have a portable charger and I WILL bring it, but I am so so so bad about remembering to plug it in the night before! Plus with that, I get only 1 charge and then it is done. No more extra lives. Especially with how important MDE is with mobile ordering, FP selections, and other information PLUS taking pictures and texting family and friends, it is nice to know I won't have to worry so much about battery life.

If I bring a fuel rod from elsewhere that I already have, am I still allowed to exchange it in the parks?

Yes, as long as it’s Fuel rod, you can trade it.
I’m a huge fan of these, as long as one is in my park bag, it is one less thing to think about.

Also don't forget it sells for $20 on their website, which is where I got mine. Very handy.
