I just returned from our local post office and was told they have the Disney postage stamps in stock now, but can't sell them until Saturday (June 26). I hope this is correct information.
On Wednesday morning, June 23nd at 10:00am PT, the US Postal Service will be dedicating 4 postage stamps depicting Disney characters at Disneyland.
Special Guests will be Postmaster General John E. Potter and Walt Disney Company Chief Executive Officer Michael Eisner. George Wendt, "Norm" on "Cheers," will be the guest narrator.
The Art of Disney: Friendship, features stamps of Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, and a host of Disney friends. In addition to the stamps, stamped postal cards and stamped stationary will also be available that day. Philatelic Centers nationwide will have the merchandise beginning June 24th.
While I was buying stamps today the postal clerk showed me the Disney stamps. They are so cute. She told me that they would be on sale Thursday morning. I'll be in line bright and early
Wow, that is strange isn't it? Maybe some post offices didn't get them in time, but today was listed on the USPS as the official date, and we have been keeping tabs with our post office and were assured we could get them today. Only thing, they didn't get that many of them. Not sure if they will be replenished or not. Again, they are really neat!
In my postal office this morning there were plenty of Disney stamps to be found! I told my supervisor that I had a lot of friends who would be very happy to hear this, being big Disney fans at all.
I west to the post office yesterday (the 23rd) and was told only certain ones were available yesterday (I think for collectors) and the regular ones would go on sale today (Thursday) so I went on my lunch hour. Ther are SO cute!!! Next paycheck I am buying a roll of 100!! And every payceck after that !! (Okay, I know, I need to get a life!)
If you're like me and don't like to go to the post office, you can order online, www.usps.com Shipping is very reasonable, I ordered about $70 worth of stuff (including the matching Disney stationery that is pre-stamped!), and shipping was only $1 (yes ONE dollar!) for all of that stuff!
I ordered from the website too. Got the prints & the Cancellation keepsake. I'm still tempted to stop by the PO and pick up a few books to use. I'll frame all the ones I ordered.
