Do Disney still sell those cheap plastic ponchos for when it rains?

I've never taken a waterproof with me, and I'm wondering if I should this time or not. When it's rained before, we just bought the cheap plastic ponchos, they were yellow at the time with a big Mickey on the back, I think they were only $6.

Saw them last year but they are now colourless and are generic Disney park ones rather than WDW specific.

We took some cheap 2 for a £1 ones with us last August thinking we'd never wear them but were very glad to have tham on a couple of eveinings when the heavens opened and kept on raining for hours.

yes, they're transparent now - so that you can see the clothing underneath...
makes it much easier to find who you're with....(rather than look alike yellow things)..

they sell the ponchos in every store and at every merchandise cart....you're never more than a few steps away from someone who sells them...

last May we took some raincoats but they were rubbish so we ended up buying a couple of them.
i think theyre fab, big enough to put a rucksack on your back and cover it.
thought they were great value and thicker than previous years. theyre lasting well ;)

The Disney ponchos are not that cheap anymore. Roughly $8 now if I remember correctly. However they look to be quite good quality, especially compared to the cheap Poundland ones I bought. I put my arm in and it went straight through the side. Fat lot of good that was on Kali River Rapids - I looked like I had been towed behind the raft rather than being in it by the time we got back to the docking area ....

We had to buy 6 in an emergency rain situation last september - they were about $7.50 including tax.

As always, you guys are brilliant, thank you! :thumbsup2

That's the waterproofs coming off the packing list.

I'd rather put a poncho in our day packs than try to scrunch up a waterproof jacket.

Absolutely! If you are happy to regard the real cheapies as disposable, just get a few, use them until they are no good and dispose of them. No need to bring them back home at the end of the holiday either!

We've still got our yellow ponchos from 4 years ago, but they are a pain to carry around, especially once you have used them and they are wet. Last time we went, I took about 10 disposable ponchos from Tesco which were about £1 each. They are in a tiny little bag which are easy to carry about and we just binned them when we had used them, worked out much better for us, I can't stand lugging a lot of stuff around in the parks :thumbsup2

DH and I wear my parents yellow ponchos from over 20 years ago ~ they are still in excellent condition, much better quality than the newer transparent ones our DDs have got.

That's actually a good idea. I suppose if you think of it, the Disney ones work out to about £5 a pop - which equals 5 cheapos per person :)

I also don't really like carrying stuff around if I can help it - that goes especially for anyone in a family/party who usually ends up as the pack-mule :rotfl2:I didnt really think about the hassle of the thicker ones when wet. How durable are the Disney ones?

I think we'll get the Disney ones when there, and just wait till they are dry before putting them back in the day packs ;)

For 4 of us, the cheap disposable Tesco £1 ones would come to £56 if we were to assume it might rain each day... I also don't think I could fit 56 ponchos in our suitcases, never mind just 14 for me!

The Disney ones, if they are around $8 each would come to £21 approx, much better.

If your buying Disney Ponchos make sure you keep your receipt as if they get damaged they will replace them. Although we have also had them replaced without a receipt.
