hello all. I have started collecting plates to put above my drop cabinets in my kitchen. I want to collect plates from different places we have been/will go on vacation. Disney is (of course) on the top of the list! I would either like to have four plates - one of each DW park, or a plate from each of the resorts we have stayed in. Does anyone know if Disney sells such items? I have a friend going to DW in November and thought I might send her with some money since I don't know when I'll be forturnate enough to be there myself! Thanks for any advice!

But seriously, Downtown disney has a bunch of stores that you can purchase plates. The Art of Disney has wonderful plates and also each park has it's own stores. I have 4 plates from all of the parks myself they are great. Also check disney.com store. This link out www.disneystore.com/disney-parks sell merch from the parks.
Happy Shopping

I spend a lot of time in the gift shops while wife looks at stuff. I don't recall seeing souvy plates recently but I'll take a look tomorrow at AK, or wherever I end up. Let you know what I find real soon.

I think I remember Poly and Contemp plates from many years ago, and of course the ones from the parks.

I have some early plates from some of the parks in the garage in storage. If you have interest, I'll unpack the boxes and see what's there. Just let me know...

thanks!

I got mine years ago from the Bradford exchange. But these were scenes from the animated movies. I love them!

Today at AK, I saw a "Castle" plate featuring Tink. It's a relief plate, meaning that the castle image is raised. I didn't care much for it, the art didn't impress me...

This is the closest thing to a park plate available right now, at least at AK. It features all four parks, a recurring theme now. But the art is pretty good...

I did ask one CM if she remembered a plate that had the "Tree of Life" on it, I seemed to remember seeing one once. She didn't remember, or she was too new.

Tomorrow I'll look in the garage and see if I can find some old park plates for you.

OK, I got into the garage a little today, so here are some pics to get you thinking. All of the plates shown are old, from the 70's and 80's. I didn't show any of the real little souvy plates but I do show some of the bigger ones...

plate1-1.jpg

These are less than dinner plate size, so maybe you can call them souvenir plates. Large ones measure approx 7 3/4", and both have holes in the back with strings for hanging. The the ones on the left are earliest, with the floating WDW D, the upper right is next incorporating the "D" into the logo. The lower right was after the early logo "D" was no longer in favor. Notice the different castle art in the first three.

These were sold for many years, and there was a similar one showing Spaceship Earth with EPCOT logo. The big one is about 9 3/8".

plate3.jpg

This one was sold to commemorate the tenth anniversary of WDW. Comes in a real nice box. Just a little over 8"...

plate4.jpg

Even I like this limited edition set of 7,500 from the opening Day of EPCOT. It came in a really nice box that even has a latch! Each plate measures a hair over 8 1/2". If you ever see this set under $100, buy it!

plate5.jpg

This is of course from Disney/MGM Studios opening. For a special LE 10K plate, I think the art and the concept is pretty lame...

OK, that's all for now... I gotta go put the garage back together!

I love it!!!!:cloud9: Do you think they have that one at a lot of the different gift shops through out the parks or even Downtown Disney? I'll have to keep my eye's open for it this Sept.!!!

DCL also has plates that are available

If you are not going to be going on a cruise, I see them on ebay fairly regularly.

Good luck in your quest

Stitch's O'hana- I can almost promise you'll find the new plates in Sept everywhere on property, including the hotels. I was just at the Poly Bou-Tiki and the MK this evening, I didn't see the plate, but I wasn't looking either.

I agree, the art is very well done... unlike the ugly castle plate with Tink...
