My mother and I have been planning a Disneyworld trip for this August for ages. We'll fly in on the 17th and out on the 30th and we'd intended the whole way through to just go to Disney... But we both simultaneously came to the conclusion hours ago that we really want to see the WWoHP. So, now I'm trying to see if it's possible.

It looks like it's going to be approx. $68 round trip for a cab, but $84 per person for tickets, so that's about $236 just to get there. I'm thinking of going towards the end of our trip, assuming that the crowds will be lower the closer we get to to September, and I know how to deal with high Disney crowds better than I will know how to deal with high IoA crowds. Our main priority is so see as much WWoHP as possible, and then if time allows, hit the high-lights of the rest of IoA. I guess what I'm asking for is a crash course in the ways of Universal. Are there particularly good or bad days to go in my dates? What are your biggest tips?

Oh, and also, my mother doesn't deal well with motion sickness, so (basically) which IoA rides should she avoid? (I already know about FJ, but she might tough it out simply to see the ride). Is it worth it for someone to spend that much money to go, if she won't be able to ride much because of motion sickness, and isn't a huge Harry Potter fan anyway? I'm just trying to feel this whole thing out, still.

If you can spend a night at one of the three Universal hotels at the end of your trip you will get early entrance into WWoHP... as well us unlimited Express Pass (it's like Fastpass, but you don't have to come back later). Express Pass doesn't work on a couple of rides, including the main attraction at WWoHP, Forbidden Journey... but I'd strongly recommend staying on-site a night and getting a two-day park-to-park ticket, you'll be able to check out everything Universal has to offer in both parks.

I havent been for WWoHP yet....but I can tell you that going to Universal is worth it period. It is a lot of fun and you will really enjoy it. I would try to go during the week and get there as early as you can to avoid the crowds.

check the park hours on the calendar for universal parks.

go tu-wed-th if you can swing it.

try to hit the day that the park has longer hours.

hit potterville early morning.
early as in, be at the gate by 8:00.
the early entry group will enter and then you will be in front of the line that is let in around 9.

do potter first, then rest of ioa
work towards the front of the park.

return to potterville the last 90 minutes before the park closes.
chances are, that area will have less crowds then.

some say they have had motion sickness on FJ.
some say otherwise.

since mom is not a potter person, you go and use the single rider line.
have mom do a butterbeer while she waits for you.

your time is cut in about half when you do SRL.

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I can safely say that we definitely can't swing more than one day, or staying on-site at Universal, but I'm glad to hear everyone thinks it's a worthwhile venture. I'm still not sure if we're going to do it, but at least now I have a bit more of a handle on how/when to get it done.

Does the single rider line for FJ miss out on any of the cool walk through that's supposed to be the queue?

both of you take the castle tour together.
you can take all the photos you want.

then, when you do the slr for fj, you will be fine.
you have already seen the inside by doing the castle tour.
