If anyone is interested there is a show called Disney Pixar on the Bio channel 8.30 next Thursday. It's looking at the first years of Pixar and the relationship with Disney. The preview looked great.
I've seen this on ABC a couple of times now - I agree - it is very interesting and good fun! may be able to watch it in iview or just by googling and I bet it is on you tube somehow
Another 2 documentaries I watched this year and recommend are 'Waking Sleeping Beauty'. this is the story of the Disney Animation office BEFORE Pixar (the one they closed down with the Pixar purchase) and it follows it's decline, rescue by Michael Eisner and hits the peak with The Little Mermaid under the wonderful Howard Ashman (who opens the film in a really engaging 'Walt' type way).
the other one is 'The Boys" which is the story of the Sherman Brothers and covers their entire lives right up to what they are doing now. Most of it is on their relationship with Walt and writing all that famous music, being dropped when walt died and they went to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - and a few other surprises that you are probably unaware they were behind. Both still alive and very old and both interviewed in the films
I streamed these from a video - on - line service and I enjoyed them very much too.
