Has anyone ever let their kids go on the Pirate Adventure? From what I understand, it starts at GF and goes to different marina's. The kids are looking for hidden treasure. Is is worth the money? Do you know the ages (I have seen 6-10 and 6-12)? Did your kids like it?

Every time we go to Disney I try to do something new. I thought my little one might like it (8) and my oldest (12) agreed to go if the little one didn't want to go alone (no parents allowed). My DS8 decided that it sounds like something for younger kids. :confused3 Any thoughts? :confused3

I can't help you because we couldn't get a reservation. My kids really wanted to do it too. Must be a hit if ressies are so hard to get. I think it sounds cool.

In May my sons (ages 6 and 8) went on the pirate cruise at the Yacht Club - it's called the Albatross Cruise. They loved it. The treasure hunt went to a few different countries in EPCOT Worldshowcase. The boys thought it was neat to be in EPCOT while it was close to the public. :teeth:

I think it was worth the money since we had been to WDW before and were there for a week. I wouldn't have wanted to take the time if it was a shorter trip. BTW, my sons were the only siblings on the trip. Before the boat left the dock the kids were all talking together like they had been friends forever.

Here is a link with more information and 2 reviews. It says ages 4 - 10.

DS did the Albatross cruise last year, it was right before his 5th birthday. He had a blast and wants to try the Pirate Adventure next time. I think the ages are 4-10

My almost 5 then and 8 year old did the GF one in August. They had a great time being pirates. They couldn't tell me much, they were sworn to secrecy, pirate's code and all. They do want to go again if that is any help.

I have my boys booked for the Albatross cruise in December. When I checked websites, they all said it only went up to age 10. A DISer said that she had her 12 year old go on it and had no problem. So when I went to book, they said it only went to 10. I called the Marina at the Yacht Club and they said, no, it goes up to age 12. I explained the problem I was having booking it since my boys are 10 and 12. They said that the reservations in the computers are wrong. They said to just say his age was 10 and when we showed up we would see a big sign that says it goes from 6-12.

So I guess we will find out when we get there. The marina insists that it goes up to age 12. I called 3 times over 2 days and got the same answer from different people.

DSs did it when they were 6 and 8. They had good time. They like pirates. At 8 and 10, I doubt they would go now- they would rather go on the park rides.

My 9 year old DD did this back on July 15th. She really enjoyed it and there were lots of kids in the 8, 9 year old range. While she was on the pirate cruise, we had breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe and then my DS and DH did the water mice. It just wandered about the GF. It was a nice activity for her they had lunch, she got to keep her mickey pirate scarf and they got little trinkets in a treasure chest. I would highly recommend this if your kids are into pirates. Too bad they don't have a cool pirate ship, though...just a pontoon boat.

My DD did this when she was 6 it was fun for her then but I don't think she would have liked it at 12, it is kinda little kid aimed. It was fun but nothing exciting or thrilling for an adolescent. I think 10 is about the oldest I would suggest.

DS did the Pirate Cruise at the GF when he was 5. He had a lot of fun, as did my nephews who were about the same age. The 12 year old might think it's too babyish, as it was mostly younger kids.

You could always let the younger one go and you and the 12 year old could rent a mouse boat and cruise the lake. That's what I did when they were on the boat.

It's definitely not 6-12, they have to be 4 and potty trained.

the only difference in the two is the location and they get different bandanas.I picked the Albatross because we were staying at BWV.
