Does anyone know where I can purchase disney pins instead of paying a fortune for some in disney. I want to start my 4 yr old and 14 yr old doing this but noticed that some websites are selling counterfeit ones?

I know people hate this - but I don't think it's a bad idea to buy a few from Ebay just to get them started. They are kids and will just be happy to get started. Buy from a reputable buyer. Generally it is best to buy from Disney - I fully agree with this. But a few starters just to get some pins on the lanyard - I say go for it.

Thats exactly what I was thinking but then started researching and I didn't't know what to do o_O

People will go nuts when you admit to buying from eBay. But really - a few to get the kids started. And have fun. I have been trading for years. it's fun t collect a theme - I collect disney cats and villains. My husband does Nightmare before Christmas and pirates.

We buy them from Disney when they are on sale. There is always a sale going on at some point. Or I buy clearance. I usually buy several even duplicates so then they can trade the duplicates for ones they want when they are in the parks. Our kids love it.

You can also buy mystery packs of 5 or so pins when you're at the parks or resorts that are cheaper than if you buy the pins individually. If you pick a pack with a theme you don't care too much about, you can use those as affordable traders.

We did something fun on our last trip - One day we started with one pin, and just traded it over and over again around the World Showcase, taking a picture of each trade.

We're mainly collectors, but we do quite a bit of trading, and it's a lot of fun!

I prefer to buy direct from disney. I usually buy when their site has a good sale. For instance last weekend they were doing buy 1 get 1 50% off. There are 7 pin sets for $30, so you could've gotten 14 pins for $45, about $3 each. Not as cheap as ebay, but not bad, and you know where they're coming from.

Oh man I missed this, this would have been perfect. Maybe they will have another sale since I'm not going till October.

We only purchase authentic Disney pins. You can get good prices on them when they go on sale or at certain Disney outlets.

I am a huge pin collector and have been since my parents set me up with a pin lanyard starter set when I was 4 during my first visit. I am now 18 and pin trading is a highlight of my trip every time I go. I get its frowned upon by some but usually a week or two before we go we order 50 pins off of ebay that are authentic. I keep the ones I like and then the rest can be used for trading. Now I have a great collection that hasn't cost me a great deal of money, except for the pins that i've bought separate in the park because they looked cool.

Who on ebay do you buy from if you don't mind me asking?

I'm planning on buying a few from Amazon to start a collection for myself and my 5 year old. I will only buy the ones that are prime eligible so I won't have a problem returning if they aren't authentic. I've found several lots for sale for around $1 a pin.

Maybe I will try there also, thanks!

grabbed a few off Amazon for cheap, they are great for trading, also there are lots of pin groups on FB

When my daughter got started I bought 2 batches from ebay sellers. I know serious traders don't agree but I think its fine.

I like to visit the Character Warehouse outlets on the way in to see what pins they have. If they have any, they are normally a good discount and you know you are working with authentic pins.
