Disney Pins off of E-Bay

I looked at pinscheap on ebay. Bit confusing because if you go to their website first (pinscheap.com), they show you pictures of actual pins they send out and 2 of the pins they show have the EuroDisney cards with them! Then in the description, it tells you that they don't send Euro ones? I'm not sure if they mean Euro as in a location where they have Sedesma, etc. from, or if they mean the actual EuroDisney ones. I'm also not sure which ones are the ones people frequently mention having trouble trading.

I also noticed his description stated some had the metal backs as I mentioned above. Incidentally, regarding those, I emailed Harval1 who quickly responded that most of his had the Mickey backs, but some might have the regular (non-Mickey) rubber backs, and some might have metal. I did read the feedback on pinscheap and just a warning for you if you're just looking for pins for your son to have, many people commented that his pin selection was very limited and if you order 20, you may get 4 each of 5 different pins, etc. Obviously not a big problem if you just plan to trade, but just a warning. There were also some concerns about shipping time and his not responding to emails. Evidently not a problem with Harval1 since he responded to mine within about an hour. I had looked at his feedback earlier and he didn't have any negatives during the last 3 months, but just now when I checked, he had 2 new ones from one buyer. I didn't understand the complaint - seemed to be about payment and rudeness, not the pins themselves. If I do order from him, I'll let everyone know how it turns out, but I'm certainly not a pin expert!

We've purchased from harval1, also. Not a chatterer, and nice enough pins. There have never been any I was embarassed to trade. I don't remember what kind of backs they had, though.

Finally, once you get your pins, invest in pin locks. We found out the hard way (lost 2 pins) that the rubber mouse ear backings that come with the pins can fall off.

Where do you get these?

Oh - one more consideration. I know last time we had trouble with having some pins (which were legitimate ones that we'd actually bought on our previous trip, but that was 5 years earler) that still had the metal backs (instead of the rubber Mickey heads). The CM's will still trade, but will keep the rubber back for themselves, not take your metal back.

I'm not sure if it was just because she was so young, but last summer if my DD(then5) had a pin with a metal back the CMs actually made sure to give her a Mickey head. It was deliberate and they would comment that they were better.

Has anyone bought from pinscheap?

Says .... You WILL NOT receive Sedesma or Sedesma like pins, Euro Pins, Propins, 2000 Dancers, Cutties, or any other low quality pins.

Only $1.99 each for as many as you order.

Going in Feb and was going to get some for DS2.5 ..... probably not to trade but you never know.

I ordered from pinscheap. Had no problems at all trading away the pins and he sent very nice ones and I kept about 20 of the ones he mailed me for my own collection. There were NO sedesma, euro pins etc like it says above. I received them in a timely manner and shipping was just one rate no matter how many you ordered. Only bad thing was each pin was individually placed in plastic so it took a while to open them all up. I was also shorted one pin and he promptly refunded the cost. Anyway I wouldn't hesitate to order from him again.

I just ordered from CGary119 (i think thats right) and he was GREAT! Great price and great pins - I ordered 20 pins for my daughter and i to trade and while there were 10 unique pins and the others were doubles - it was nice to have the parking lot pins as well as united way and other cast only pins to trade for. didn't get any "junk"

Excellent service and great prices. Fast shipping too.:goodvibes

I did get my pins yesterday from Harval1. They seem fine. About half of them have the Mickey backs, maybe 1/4 have the circular black rubber backs, and the other quarter have the old metal backs. Some questions I have are - some of the pins were from Hong Kong Disneyland. Are these tradeable? The couple we got from there my kids LOVED (a really cute chip and dale one and a cute minnie one) so I guess it's not a big issue since they don't seem to want to trade those anyways, but I'm wondering. Also, I got one from Graduation 2003 which I have to doubt would be tradeable. The rest seem fine - they really had fun looking through them last night.

This is a BIG misconception that if a pin doesn't have a black Mickey head back it is not tradable. How and why this rumor got started is beyond me. :confused3 :headache:

The Mickey backs are fairly new to pins sold at the Disney parks for the last few years. Actually when they\ Mickey Head pin backs came out they were awful. They didn't stay on a pin, they were cheaply made and I don't know how many time I got "stuck' by a pin back that went through the Mickey head. Just because a pin has Mickey Head back doesn't mean it's a Disney pin. Anyone could take those backs and put them on any pin.

When pin trading first became popular at the Disney theme parks around 1999 all pins came with metal backs. Some current cast member pins sold at the California Cast stores have metal backs. Most of the Walt Disney Imagineering (CAST) pins have metal backs.

Some of the newer, smaller pins are coming through with little star like backs on them. At least they are made of a heavy rubber not that cheesy stuff the Mickey Heads are made out of.

What you have to look for is the ©Disney on the back of the pin. Most newer pins have the Disney pin trading logo on the back but older pins and pins from the Disney catalog, Disney Auctions and the Disney Store do not. All of these pins are perfectly tradable.

As far as the CM keeping/not keeping the metal back/Mickey Head..........the rubber backs are better for holding pins on lanyards. Some prefer to keep the rubber back....others could care less.

The Hong Kong Disneyland pins and the 2003 graduation pin are tradable if they have ©Disney (or in the case of HK it will say ©Hong Kong Disneyland) on the back and it is not a name pin.

To check......go to pinpics.com and do a search for a specific pin.

There is a post on the Budget Board by DIS Members who are selling items on ebay. Many DIS members are putting "Proud Member of the DISBoards" in
their auctions so other DIS'ers can do a search on ebay and find them.

Hope that helps clear that up and you all have fun trading!

Kathie -thanks for all the info - I'll check a couple of them out on pinpics. They do all have the copyright Disney thing on the back (I don't know how to make the cool c symbol like you did!), but I thought I'd read from people that nearly all pins did now including some untradeable ones like Sedesma?

Anyways, I wasn't saying that having a Mickey back made it tradeable or not having one made it not - just that we had had CM's in the past still trade but refuse to take a metal back. I know any the kids really liked we ended up getting the locking backs for anyways after losing the first "good" pin!

I think I have enough now that between the 50 I got, and all the ones we'll dig out from last trip before we go, the boys should have enough to have fun with. They're all old enough to understand that they can't keep all of them and will have to decide which ones they like best and trade the rest. Probably 1/4 of the ones we got are cute ones that for now at least they're saying they don't want to trade. There are enough Princess ones and generic character ones that they'll be willing to trade and then they can start making decisions!

Thanks again everyone for all the help!

Making the cool symbol © you do Alt 0169 at the same time. :) :thumbsup2

Technically, the Sedesma pins are tradeable as they are ©Disney. Some CM's don't like to trade them because they are a lesser quality pin. You will find them on Cast lanyards. I actually have a few Sedesma's in my collection.

The important thing is to have fun!! Sounds like you are already doing that!! :goodvibes

My sons have a couple of sedesma sets. The 7 dwarves and the incredibles live as tacks on their bulletin board. My littlest has traded for several, and we will probably take them back and attempt to trade them away. Why he traded for 3 sedesma hyenas is beyond me!

I wouldn't ever buy them to trade away, though.
