Have any of you pin collectors had any difficulty taking pins to and from WDW by air? We will be taking about 50 pins each for trading and just wanted to be certain that everything goes well for our September flight....thanks for your help...

Usually, what i will do, buy a large popcorn, the one that gives you the popcorn plastic tub.....Wash it out, wrap each pin in a little bit of papertowel or tp, and carry it in my carryon..Never had a problem, holds a lot, and they are safe....

but this only works upon your return. Not to get the pins to the parks in the first place.

OP, I have not flown with pins, but I imagine if you put them in your carryon in a plastic bag that you can take out easily you will be Ok. I'm sure people fly with them all the time....

Thats why I said about the popcorn. Once you go one time, you always have it....What I would also use is a tupperware holder.

Last trip to Disney we put all of our pins in one carry-on. I did not think about the amount of metal that would show up on the x-ray screen. :confused3 My bag got searched thoroughly because of the metal content. Once they figured out that it was the pins that cased the problem...everything was fine. :thumbsup2 On the return trip we dispersed the pins throughout all of our carry-on luggage...we did not get stopped. :wizard:

We were stopped last year because all 3 of us had a bag of traders in our carry-ons. TSA had to open the bags and take the pins out. PAIN in the tushy!

This year we took smaller amounts of pins and the only one who got stopped was DS13. NOT because of the pins, but because of the M&M tubes full of pennies and quarters.

The TSA agents at MCO see so many bazillions of pins they have never stopped us.

Coming home I put our pins on sheets of bubble wrap and layer them in a shirt size gift box. Then I just stick the box in the bottom of our "souvenir duffle" and off we go! :)

We put all of our pins on sheets of felt (the 8x10 size that you can buy at any craft store) and then put them in our carry-ons at the top. It is easier for security to see what it is and once on our way to WDW we actually took them out of the carry-on and put them in a tub by themselves. We have 150+ pins that we take for trading. Putting them on felt also makes it easier for the kids to see what they have to put on their lanyard for the next day and if they get a match to a set or something.

Note, that one time we put them in our checked luggage and when we got to WDW they were gone - all 100 of them!!! Word to the wise, carry-on!!!!

Just got home Wednesday evening and I put my pins in a ziploc bag. I had them in my carry-on both ways. I pulled them out both times so TSA could see them, just like the 3-1-1. No problems.
