Disney pin question

I had ordered several pins from Disney Direct and received my order today. They were not what I was expecting - They are really big- I was expecting them to be about half this size. Just wondering if this is the normal size pins that are traded at WDW. We are taking our 1st trip ever to WDW in Dec and I think my kids will really enjoy pin trading. I'm just a little nervous that these pins are not the type that are traded. I'm also thinking that if this is the norm it could get heavy!!

I had the same thought. My daughter and I opened the package and both said that we thought they were huge. We have done pin trading at DL, but the pins were not that big. We bought/traded quite a few pins, but none of them were that big. We were also concerned about how heavy they will be. Hopefully someone can shed a little light on the pins.

I agree this pins are bigger than usual I myself was expecting an average size of 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 inch. But yes you can trade this pins as long as there is a Disney trade mark at the back you can trade it... for the big ones I suggest you just carry it for your kids and ones they get traded to the stuff they like they can add it to their lanyards.. below is a picture of an average pins which are both release at TDS this year

I had a lot of different sized pins because I did a lot of pre-trip shopping on Ebay. As long as they are NOT plastic, and have the Disney logo on the back they'll trade them in the parks.

My DD4 had a BLAST pin trading during our trip in March. It's a great inexpensive way to keep kids involved especially when the grown ups want tp take turns on the BIG rides.

Have fun....

Yes but beware these bigger pins are worth alot more($22.00) than the pins you will be trading for ($6.50)
You should be able to get two pins for each of these big ones...

The pin trading with cast members, is a 1 pin for a 1 pin. Many of the DA pins that typically sell for $10 to $14 dollars were on sale at Disney Direct for $3.99 to $5.99. We bought a bunch of those LE 1000 pins for $3.99! That price can't be beat for a DA pin.

I bought some of the pins too, and I'm really happy cause the ones I bought were KEEPERS not traders. A few I wanted were already sold out when I went back on Day 3 to buy.
I've heard you can get fairly cheap pins for trading if you go to the off site 'Warehouse'Discount stores on International Drive .

Although the pins you bought from Disney Auction were $3.99...they used to be 10.99 and up pins. If you keep them in their little pocket wrappers, they can just be carried in a purse and not get scratched.

I'm a grown up, and I even had fun trading pins!

Although the descriptions of the pins on DisneyDirect gave the measurements, I didn't get out a ruler to really figure how big they would be, so I was also surprised by the size when I got them. There are a few that I really want to keep, but I got about six that I'm planning to take to WDW to trade. I'll just keep them in their pouches till I find a CM with a pin that I really want. I also bought the LE 1000 for $3.99 each.

Forgive me in advance for possibly misinterpreting the quote above. If you are trading pins with cast members at Disney they will only trade pin for pin. Meaning you trade one pin, you get one pin. They will not give you two pins for one large pin.
