hi everyone!

Does anyone know how long it takes (or how long it took for you) to get your Disney Photography Proofs?

I'm at 5 1/2 weeks and I'm pretty sure Rosie told me 4-6 weeks..

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

My daughter received all her proofs in about a month or so I think, and then they did send a proof book as well. She had a wishes wedding so I don't know if that makes a difference. I had ordered my own proof book since I don't live near her and it didn't take very long to receive it. You can call Disney Photography and inquire about it. The lady's name is Karen Chandler and her number is 407-827-5029 or email Karen.B.Chandler@disney.com

I chose the shots I wanted in my MK/EPCOT shoot album, so once I got off my behind and actually sent in the paperwork, I had it within a few weeks.

Heidi-
Yeah, I'm picking my shots too, and Rosie suggested I wait for the proofs so I can really see the colors etc..

That's why I'm so anxious to get them! I really want to get going on the folios/albums! :yay:

I will call DPS this morning for sure and find out if they/it were sent out yet.

So, I called this morning and left a voicemail for Karen...the number is different though in case anyone needs to call her.

It's:

Anyway, is she good at getting back to you? Does anyone know?

Just to clarify, the proofs and the proof books are two different things. The "proofs" are 4x6-inch prints (real photos, no "proof" written across them). The proof book is spiral-bound color-copied pages with teeny-tiny lo-res thumbnail images on them.

Really? How teeny-tiny are we talking? I'm just wondering if I'll even be able to see details when picking which photos I want? :confused3

I think it depends on how many pictures there are and how many they can print on a page in the proof book. I had a hard time seeing some of the details from that though. You can see a larger image of them when they are posted online. I just purchased (I am the mother of the bride) the CD of all the pictures. They are just a standard resolution and not very good for printing, but at least I will be able to see them on the computer or email them to relatives. The Cd was $100.00. At least that way I will always have the pictures to be able to see even if I don't have them all in print. I can look back on it if I do want to reorder anything since they do keep them for 5 years I think.

I'll dig out my proof book when I get home and take a picture of it. They were way too tiny for me - I could actually see the photos better online. And, of course, we had the prints to look through.

Actually, the "proofs" in the proof book are 2" x 3" and they are hi-res images. That is why Rosie told me to wait until I got those to pick what I wanted in my folios because the colors were going to be much more clear and crisp. So, basically by using those and the images on the website we can make an informed decision. Then whatever pics are leftover from what we want in our albums/folios, we'll get the 4 x 6's of those....

I did speak with Karen a couple of hours ago, but am still waiting to hear about whether or not our proof book was shipped yet...sigh.

Anytine I had to get in touch with Karen Chandler I usually did it my email and yes she did get back quickly. Also, I have dealt with Ruth Barrett who handles the reprints. She is excellent about getting back promptly. Her email is Ruth.A.Barrett@disney.com

I hope you'll post a picture of yours when it comes, cuz I am telling you, the images in the proof book I got last year were not hi-res - they looked like they had been printed on an inkjet and I could barely tell similarly posed photos apart... :confused3

eew....inkjet!! yucky.

I will definitely do that-I just heard from Karen that it's going to arrive next Monday or Tuesday.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see  but hopeful....

I'd love to see photos of both... seeing them online will help as well, I totally forgot that we have that option as well. :)

My wedding consultant, Pam, has been fantastic... my wedding coordinator is going to have some big shoes to fill. :lmao: She sent me a picture of the proof book. There are six 2" x 3" photos per page and they are high resolution. Between them and the zoom feature on the website photos, I should be good to go. :)

From what I can see, it doesn't appear to have "proof" written across the photos either which will make selecting the perfect ones even easier. :cool1:

Found it!

OK, the book looks just like the ones posted on page 1 of this thread, but I'm telling you, 2 inches x 2 3/4 inches is not big enough to discern detail, at least in the shots we got.

Check out this page - the bottom four pictures all look pretty much identical:

Even though you can tell slight changes in pose, our faces are seriously no bigger than the head of a pin (trust me - I measured! And no "pinhead" comments from the peanut gallery... :rotfl:). I can't even tell if DH is smiling in most of these. That may also be because the shots are so dark.

I had to take this photo in "macro" mode

I guess I was just disappointed that this proof "book" that DPS lists as one of the features of your package is more of a booklet and basically a bunch of color printouts that some poor intern had to run through the spiral binder. I mean, when most wedding photographers give you a proof book, it's an actual book with actual photos in it...

:confused3

I agree. It's pretty lame comparing to other "proof books" you get...

But the way DPS's was explained to me by both Rosie and Karen was that it was like a contact sheet. They both asked if I knew what that was and I do, so I knew what I was getting...

Basically Rosie said to use the book as a tool as the pictures on line sometimes don't look as clear (it depends on your monitor, mine is ok, not great I guess).

Also, we didn't have any pics in the dark, the earliest we got was "dawn", so that might make it easier to see as well..

We'll see on Monday or Tuesday when we get it, I'll let you guys know either way...

Is that Pam Pearce? If so - she's the best thing since bread came sliced!
