We are staying at the AKL in March and are thinking about having photos done! Anyone have any tips or advice re: Disney Photographers or choice of locations? We are thinking about having them done at AKL??? Or maybe MK? Any advise? Opinions?? TIA!!! :flower1:

Walking down mainstreet, there are always photographers there ready to take pictures. This is a good spot since the backdrop is cinderella's castle. Another picture spot is if you walk down mainstreet and then turn right toward tomorrowland, ther is an indention in the metal fence by the topiaries, and there is often a photographer there. Also, now disney has a feature where anytime a disney photographer takes a picture of you, they give you a card w/ a certain password on it, which allows you to look at the pictures on the web so that u can pick the one u want.

Hope this helps

We had professional pictures taken there in May done by one of the photographers. We had them done in Epcot World Showcase, before it opened - during the Flower and Garden Festival.

They came out good, but truly not any better than any other professional photographer. The photographer was good, knowledgeable, and professional, and the pics came out okay, but they were all posed, traditional pics. We were disappointed that he didn't do a better job of staging us, many of the shots could have been much better if he had repositioned us a bit and such, so many of the locations were lost because of that. We had to do alot of the staging ourself, so it didn't seem like he had a good eye for that. That was a bit frustrating, because I like having a professional helping with that. i must admit that the last time we truly had prof pics done was at our wedding less than 2 years prior this, and our photographer was a journalistic style with an incredibly talented eye for angling, details, and creative positioning - so this was a big change for me.

We ONLY chose to do it because we all live diff places, and had one big vacation at the world together, and it was an once in a lifetime opportunity to have pictures made. I looked into other area photographers, to have pics done somewhere there, but it was just too hard to take time off our vacation to do that. This was easier for us, though pricey.

If you contact them, they can give you an online address and password in order to see sample pictures. They are the same photographers that shoot weddings/honeymoons, but many of the family pics we saw examples for were grand gatherings and LOTS of people.

If you're there with people you can't get pics made with otherwise, I'd fork out the $ for it. But if you just want family pics done, I'm not sure I wouldn't just find a great studio in your area that can do creative pics in a format that would include variety of settings, clothing changes, etc. All these pics are color (not my fave), as well. The reprints are pretty expensive, as is the setting fee, but of course it is Disney =)

We weren't interested in having specifically Disney pics, either, so that might be diff if you truly want that. We just wanted gorgeous pics we'd hang on the walls, which is why we did the World Showcase with the flowers =)

There are loads of great locations there, they can tell you what the best places are. I saw some made in the hotels, on the beach, in the park, etc. You really don't have time to move locations, though. We thought World Showcase offered enough variety in location... between the diff architectures, benches, bridges, etc.

Also keep in mind the time of day you want it in - we did late morning, and the sun was really too bright. We should have done it much earlier, or at dusk.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Aimeedyan, Thanks for the very thourough review! I was hoping that by having a proffesional do the pictures, maybe we could have some done outside in the viewing areas? Early before crowds? D they have a website available to view some of thier work??? Thanks so much for your help! :Pinkbounc

HI!

We also had our pictures done by the Disney Professional Photographer, and they came out GREAT!!!! We are so very happy we did this. We had them done on our Sept 2002 trip, and the pictures are still displayed and treasured today.

We had ours done at MK. The photographer suggested this while on the phone, because we have a (at the time) 4year old. They took pictures in front of the castle, and over in Belle's Story Area. When you book, you are promised between 12-24 pictures. We got 48. The photographer asked us if there was anywhere else we wanted to go....I kick myself for not thinking of more places!!! A friend and her family did them after I did, and I know she got even more! The proofs come in a leatherbound portfolio, and they are yours to keep. They will take your pictures at any WDW Resort, or one of the 4 Theme Parks.

You can get more info by calling WDW Productions 407-827-5099

Sorry!! I just fixed the link, it should be all set.....

:teeth: Thanks...the pictures are wonderful but my heavens, the prices for the prints...perhaps I'll take my chances with my digital camera and have an awsome shot worth blowing up. Thanks for finding the site for me. :goodvibes

We had the photo session at the MK over XMAS with my extended family of 11. We were disappointed with the results. The photographer did not seem to know how to get a natural smile out of the 3 children in our group (ages 5, 8, 8) and just told everyone to "smile". This does not work with children! You get fake, frozen looking smiles. I also echo the comment that they weren't great about setting up the photo and situating everyone. We had pictures done by the rose garden with the castle in the background at 9:00 a.m., and the sun was right in our eyes, so everyone looks pained due to squinting in the sun.
