Theme Park Connection specializes in buying or selling authentic Walt Disney memorabilia, from costumes from the Haunted Mansion to signs from the Splash Mountain ride.

The store is not affiliated with Disney, but it offers Disney employees the chance to turn in their costumes and collectibles for cash.

Mark Pianko, the store owner, told Local 6, "No one else is doing it. We're the only place I know that's offering people cash to bring in Disney of theme park items."

People have referred to the Winter Garden's store as "the world's largest Disney pawn shop."

Theme Park Connection also offers the chance for any Disney fan to buy these one of kind collectibles.

Sounds like a thinly veiled advertisement to me...

If the property belongs to Disney I can imagine anyone buying or selling stolen property could find themselves in a lot of trouble

It seems like a thinly veiled advertisement but some of the items on there are pins you can find anywhere on Ebay (Castmember and LE pins) and hats (Which Disney does NOT ask for after you leave the job). But there are a few sketchy things on there that sort of scream stolen items (Polynesian Bath Robes beginning at 2.00 and stating brand new, and Magnolia and Palm golf course flags).

Disney sells a lot of its stuff, on their own through one of the stores accessible to CM's and their guests (and I suspect some other people get access even without being a CM or knowing one). It's called "Property Control." Hotel furnishings, signs, office equipment, things from the parks and costume pieces. I have a Liberty Square coat, and a AK Vest. Not to mention table & chairs from AK, an ottoman from the Yacht Club, artwork from WL and various other items. While I have been in there, I have seen various known Ebay sellers loading up their carts. I suspect that is the source for a lot of things. And it seems, that aside from character costumes, Disney doesn't much care what happens to things after they sell them.

I'm not seeing how this place is much different than Mouse Surplus ('The Saddest Place in the World', according to my wife.)

Yes, I am aware of that place...usually visit once a week. The costumes pieces that are sold there are usually stripped of any patches or other decor that directly links them to an attraction, park, etc...(usually, not always).

They're no longer the business they used to be. And I don't ever remember them asking CMs to bring in their costumes.
