Disney Park in South America????

My relatives from South America visited us earlier this week (they had just finished their little boy's first trip to Disney) and it got me thinking. Disney has theme parks in North America, Europe, and Asia, but none in South America. I understand that their goal is to build more in Asia, but where do you think would be a good location for a Disney theme park in South America?

Agreed...

Not only wealth...but potential for wealth and developing economies.

South America's richest period was when spanish galleons were hauling silver outta mines...

The other thing about South America is that it is by and large pretty accessible to Florida.

Rio to Orlando non-stop would be about 9 hours....certainly a long way but not the most ridiculous time.
If you're been to WDW in the last few weeks you know that obviously plenty of people are willing to do it.

Florida also has a strong spanish speaking population and latin elements in the culture already...which is good to promote travel to South America

The only way we see a Disneyland Caracas or La Paz would be if they have a ridiculous demand for more disney parks and no other continents to conquer.

I don't see it happening.

Shanghai is not wealthy. This city has a small class of wealthy and a slightly larger core of what we'd call middle class. And the population core of the surrounding areas have no disposable income.

I'd say it would make just as much sense to build in Rio as it does in Shanghai -- the only difference being the Brazilian government isn't (as far as I know) going to partner up with Disney to share the costs and risks of a new park.

Consider who from SA visits WDW. Most of them don't speak Spanish.

I'd say it would make just as much sense to build in Rio as it does in Shanghai -- the only difference being the Brazilian government isn't (as far as I know) going to partner up with Disney to share the costs and risks of a new park.

Shanghai's Disneyland will not just service it's own local popultaion but the region. With a huge population in the region that with even a small percent of wealthy individuals it is a large number of people able to visit. It also has better weather than pushing it toward Bejing.

China doesn't partner with Disney. Disney has to partner with China.

Its not good that Disney has not any park at South Africa. They must have at least one park in south Africa. Because now many tourist moving towards South Africa. They have craze for going for mini vacation at south Africa. So if Disney will plant a new park there than there will be beneficial for tourist and for Disney too.

But I think Shanghai's potential for wealth and developing economies are very good.

I think that the reason why Disney choose it.
