I have read about the Disney store in St. Augustine and there in Orlando at the outlet mall. Which one do you recommend (best prices/best selection) We have a VERY SMALL Disney store in our town but the selection is very limited and it is not an outlet store.

Thanks!!

I have been to the one near WDW a few times and to be totally honest, it has been real hit or miss. One time you can go and get great deals and the other time not so good. It is worth a trip over since the savings can be substantial. The merchandise can change, but sometimes you can find really good deals.

We were at the Disney Outlet store in Rehoboth De. over Labor Day weekend and we got a few good deals, yes I think the stores are it & miss we also noticed that the shirts we bought seemed thinner then the shirts we got @ Disney this past summer. Not sure if that is how all the stores are but we do not like the stores in the malls that much so we just wait to check the outlet stores.

The Orlando store is at least worth a look if you have the time. I lucked out and found a $55 button down dress shirt with a little embroidered Mickey head on the pocket for a mere $12.50. And then a grey/black polo for about $14.95 that was originally $48.
DW couldn't find anything for her. :confused3
But then she found stuff to her liking at the Anne Klein store! ;)

Just a little heads up, the outlet store does not sell anything from the regular Disney store or anything specific to the outlet. They sell outdated park and cruise merchandise. You can find sone great deals, especially on hoodies. I have gotten hoodies for DD and DS for $10 and for me for $12. I live just north of the outlets in St Augustine so go in a lot and often leave empty handed since it is pretty hit or miss, but they get new stuff all the time.

The Orlando outlet store are a good place to buy gifts to take home. All The merchandise is from WDW.

There are always some great buys. You may want to try on two different days as the stock is always changing.

I stopped at the one on Vineland Street (I think it was Vineland) a couple times a week ago and almost had to purchase another bag for carry on for my plane trip home. :)

I found all kinds of great things for the entire family and spent VERY little compared to what it would cost at the parks.

I think there's some confusion as to what outlet store is being talking about..

There are The Disney Store outlets, and they sell items that come from Disney Stores around the country. They carry new merchandise, same as the stores at that moment, they carry older merchandise that has been moved there from regular stores, and they carry some outlet exclusive merchandise (or at least they used to, not sure if they still do anymore) These are owned and run by Disney, just the way the regular Disney Stores are. As well, they are located around the country, like the regular TDS. Prices here can vary. They can carry full priced merchandise, and some on clearance, and then the outlet exclusive merchandise is going to be lower priced as well, but sometimes it's of lower quality.

There are what they call Character Premiere Stores. These are the ones that are the outlets for the parks and cruise line. I know that there are at least two of them, one just outside WDW off of Vineland, and one in Ft Lauderdale at Sawgrass Mills mall. If there are more, I'm unsure of it. There might be something in California, and maybe something else in Florida. I just don't know the details. They sell all the stuff you normally could get at the parks and the cruise ships, and sometimes at a deeply discounted price. It's a lot of variety, homegoods, shirts, pjs, costumes, pins, toys, etc. Especially lots of dated things or holiday stuff. Things that obviously have a limited life span INSIDE the park.

Now, to add one more log to the fire, there are some places that are liquidation events. I don't believe these are run by anyone Disney related, and I've only seen one in my life, but I'm sure there are others. This was basically a warehouse set up with rows and rows of tables, and then racks around the outside selling Disney merchandise. They had things from the parks and from the stores. ALL the stuff from the Disney Stores was WAAAAAYYYY past it's shelf life, even for an outlet. I went to one when i was working for the Disney Store, and they had things that we hadn't had in the stores for several years. And the thing was, the price wasn't good on it, either. Had they still been in the store, they would have been marked down to like, 3.99, but there they only had a discount of about 25-30% (still costing over 12 dollars) They also were selling things like popcorn buckets and refillable mugs, it was a weird place.

If you're really looking to buy Disney things, and you don't have a big selection at home, why not go online and shop their website. You can get almost everything from the Disney Store online, plus they're now selling park merchandise online, too. Seems to me that'd be the easiest way. They also send out TONS of coupons in email, as well as almost all the time there's some offer for free shipping!

There is another Disney owned outlet store in Orlando: in the Prime Outlet, 5259 International Drive 32819. I've only been there once, and they had a slightly different selection than the the one in the Orlando Premium Outlets on Vineland Avenue.
There is also a non-Disney owned outlet store at the Lake Buena Vista Outlet Mall, neart the Super WalMart on Vineland (535). I have seen them set up a tent in the parking lot, in December. I agree they have older stuff there, and not at too great a discount.
