Hi,

I posted here a few weeks ago about the Disney outlet in Foley, AL. Someone said it was about to close. Is it still open? And, where is it? I know that all of the outlets seem to be close together, if I find the main outlet center, will it be easy to find from there?

Thanks!!!!

Anita

I don't know about it closing - always seems to get a lot of business when I venture through there. They are located in the HUGE outlet center on Hwy 59 in Foley. As you head south on 59, it is on the left. The outlet (as of last summer) was located in the middle portion of the outlet, on the right side of that part of the building. Gee, I can't imaging why they'll close it. Perhaps it was damaged in Ivan and it has not reopened.

Thanks, sounds like it'll be pretty easy to find.

Last time we were there, I didn't know about the outlet. We're planning to go either on our way to or from FL. Should be fun!!!

Where are you going to in FL? Foley/Gulf Shores may not be the most direct way. Ivan messed up the roads and I believe I-10 is still down to one lane headed East as you cross Escambia Bay. go to dot.state.fl.us or dot.state.al.us.

Oh, thanks! We'll be going to Destin. Foley definitely isn't the most direct way, but we also want to go to Gulf Shores. I completely forgot about I-10 being out of commission. Guess I'll be making a AAA run. They amaze me how accurate they are on their TripTiks (maps). Can I go along the coast from Gulf Shores to Destin, or do you know? Sorry to bug you with more questions.

Thanks again for the reminder about I-10!!!

Sorry to break the bad news, but the Disney outlet in Foley is closed. Don't get me started...that was one of the main reasons we went to the Foley outlets, and we were VERY sad to see it go.

Sorry to scratch out that plan, but I heard there was another outlet in Mobile, although I haven't been.

MelodyMack-
When did it close??!! I was just there April 30th. Lots of stock and putting more out. (No great deals though...some stuff there was more expensive than the regular Disney Store in the mall).

I told them I heard about the rumor of them closing, they told me that they were NOT closing. Wow things change fast!!

For anyone travelong through Pensacola, the interstate isn't that bad. I live in P-cola and drive I-10 everyday. The only spot that is still under construction from the hurricane is the bridge going over the bay. The road merges to 1 lane and can get backed up for maybe 2-3 miles. Of course the peak times are between 4and 7 in the pm. Your delay will not be that long if you are driving through anytime besides that. It's amazing to see what a hurricane can do to a bridge!!!!!!!! We will NEVER take one for granted again!!! The delay isn't long enough not to come through our beautiful town. Have a safe trip all!

Oh no....We love the Disney Outlet. My inlaws live at Orange Beach so we go to the Riviera Center several times a year...just for the Disney store. :(

We vacation in Gulf Shores every Christmas Holiday. We have always loved that Disney outlet!!!! I'm so depressed!!!!

Pam -

I was there last month and they told me they WERE closing, and the shelves were BARE and everything was marked 75% off. Will call tomorrow and verify.

I would feel HORRIBLE if I passed along wrong info guys, so let me verify tomorrow and update everyone.

Thanks for the heads up Pam...

Hi! Just there a few weeks ago. They re-negotiated their contract and they are staying open!! They were beginning to restock. Not a lot of good deals really, but I expect that will get better. There is NOT a outlets store in Mobile, just a regular Disney store in the Colonial-Bel Air Mall. They have some decent deals, but nothing extra-ordinary like the outlet store. As far as staying in Gulf Shores, call and make sure you can find some where to stay. I went to the beach there today with my daughter (using a pool at one of the hotels for free===bad, bad me.....) and someone was saying they called last night and had difficulty finding something as so many of the condos and hotels are still closed after Ivan. Gulf Shores fared slightly better than Orange Beach, but not much. Good Luck!

There is a scenic route along the coast. If you go Hwy 59 to Foley, hand a left when you run into the beach. That should put you on Hwy 182 which turns into Florida Hwy 292 eventually you'll run into the mid-bay bridge which gets you into Gulf Breeze and Hwy 98 and it goes East into Destin. I was in Gulf Breeze/Navarre a couple of months ago and the roads are fine except for all us TOURISTS!!!.

You should get some AAA maps. You could Drive I-65 to Georgiana and then travel state highways to Crestview. From Crestview you can go to Ft. Walton and hit Hwy 98 to Destin or you can take the easier route thru Niceville and take the mid-bay toll bridge to Destin.

I go both ways. Grew up in Niceville, travel to Gulf Shores, Ft. Walton, and Destin a few times a year.

i live in pensacola too. ive been to the outlets since hurricane ivan but not since april, so i cant tell you if its closed or still open.. i hope it stays open.

I called them today and verified that they are open. They were closing the store and had the big "going out of business" sale, but apparently their financial situation changed and they're still open.

Sorry for posting incorrect info gang....I guess I should know better then to believe that a "going out of business sale" actually means they're going out of business.

Guess I'm going to Foley this weekend...

I'm ba-a-a-ck!

Just for fun, since we were driving through Foley anyway, we checked on the outlet. My dd said, "They don't look closed to me." It was fun, but all I got were a swimsuit for my son and pajamas for my daughter. Nothing for me!

I'm glad they're still open!

That's great. I had also heard that there was a lease problem in March and that it got resolved. My hubby works for a "sister" store and I asked him after reading this thread and he said he heard they were open, so we were curious too.

They are open. Still a lot of bare shelfs. Lots of great swim stuff for reasonable prices (no good deals) I bought some JO JO's Circus PJs for my girls for 3.66 and a sweatshirt for Grandma for 3.25.

Nothing else popped out.

No going out of business signs now!
