Which theme parks do your family (or you) prefer?

Feel free to post reasons below if you wish.

:)

I prefer Universal over MGM - but not over MK/Epcot

I'll confess I have not been to Universal (or MK for that matter) in many years though.

Disney, but it is a close call. For me, Disney (still) has more magic. We had a great time at Universal Studios last time, but kids were still a bit too young (or timid) for almost everything at IOA. Once they are a bit older that might change.

For rides,Harry Potter, and deluxe onsite hotels offering unlimited express-Universal, but for characters and feeling like a kid again -WDW. We usually do split stays due to the fact that we cannot decide. Of course this poll being on the Disney boards I would say the overwhelming majority will say Disney.

You're asking this on a Disney fan site? And you expect.......??????????

I voted WDW. SURPRISE!!

Disney of course. Have been to Universal once and didn't see a reason to go back.

So true! She'd probably get a different answer if she posted down in the Universal trip planning boards, though.

For what it's worth, I didn't vote. I think it's impossible to compare the two. I love the luxury of staying onsite at Universal and walking everywhere and having unlimited express access to lines. Disney's got nothing like that. Universal also has better, more technologically astonishing rides.

But on the other hand, Disney's more than four times as large, and there's SO much to do, and you can't beat the nostalgia factor. I also love Disney tours and special events and shows, which Universal doesn't offer, being so much smaller.

And as for comparing the cast members/team members, I get kind of annoyed when people try to say one set of employees is better than the other. They're equally likely to be delightful or grumpy. They're the SAME darn people! I've even met several who've worked for both parks.

So I don't really think it's a fair comparison. Each park does what they do very well. I can't pick one I prefer, any more than I can choose the one I prefer among my two children.

I chose Disney, but in the interests of Full Disclosure I've never been to Universal so perhaps I shouldn't have voted at all. :confused3

I've always wanted to go, mainly because I adore all things Harry Potter, but I just never have the time or money to go when I'm in Orlando.

I would choose Disney just over size BUT I would be willing to go on a Universal only trip... that place is just as amazing if not more. The rides surpass anything Disney has put out and the themes are fantastic as well. Maybe the "magic" isn't at Universal but with rides like that, they don't need it.

Disney, of course. Universal isn't in the same league.

Disney has never just been about the rides - it's an 'experience'! ::yes::

Heading to Universal for the first time in 12 days. Spending 3 days there in a Universal Hotel. Then spending 9 days at the Wilderness Lodge & doing Disney:banana: Can't vote yet but there is a reason we're going back to Disney for the 7th time in 6 years!

I am going to save myself a whole lot of typing and say ^^^this^^^ :thumbsup2 .

Universal's Express Pass far outpaces the Disney Fastpass, IMHO.

But for the record.....I would take a day at Discovery Cove over them all :worship: .

BOTH! We visit both resorts every visit for different reasons. Disney is our time to relax, to become a kid again and to dream. Universal is for thrills, to scream riding rollercoasters, enjoy state of the art rides (hello, Forbidden Journey, I'm talking about you) and to have "adult" fun.

I voted WDW for all of the extras that are there. You have things like pin trading and the cast seems friendlier. The theming of WDW is better than any in US other than Harry Potter land maybe. The food at WDW is better at most locations. The overal atmosphere is better at WDW. This is an unfair question as in my opinion nothing can beat WDW.

I know! Although, this is the Theme Parks board!

Yes, but if you ask a Universal question here, the mods will move your question over to one of the Universal boards. Heck, I've been chastized by a mod here for even talking about Universal too much in a different comparison thread, as it was considered "off topic"!
