Just wanted to get some opinions from other Diser's.
Disney
I have been planning a September WDW trip since early April. Did the whole wait up all night for free dining to be released, got all of the most wanted ADRs, have MNSSHP planned with the dessert party, and did the 7AM FP planning. It's all ready to go except the final payment, due in just a few days.
Since starting all of the planning for this year's trip I've had several health issues, including a knee surgery late June. I'm not 100% from any of these issues. That with mounting medical bills have made us rethink the trip. The thought is maybe move it to the first/second week of March. We've also been considering a 4 day Disney Cruise-never been on DCL- but I can say that the research I've done has kind of given me the idea that we would really enjoy it!
We are tried and true Disney veterans with trips every year since 2001, including having a very short 4 day trip early this year.
Garth
So a couple of days ago I get an email invite from SiriusXM for a "private" event concert with Garth Brooks. Only 480 pairs of tickets to be given out. Invite was sent to some 300,000 subscribers however. I had to click on a link at a specific time to see if I would get the tickets. What the heck, sure I'll give it a shot-I never win anything-EVER. I clicked got the message that the event was at capacity, just as expected. No big deal. They had a fill in form however that if you wanted to be put on a wait list should something come available, fill it out. So I did. Less than 20 minutes later I get a "Congratulations" email you have been added to the guest list
Woohoo! Lucky me! Oh but wait....it's for September 8th...when I'm suppose to be in WDW
I'm a Garth fan, love, love, love him. I've seen him twice, but both of those were more than 20 years ago. I hate to admit it, but I just can't do large concerts venues anymore-too many people, too much hassle, and too much money. And I'm too old, lol. So I've missed out on seeing him for years, but his concerts are the best I've ever been to.
This concert is for SiriusXM listeners only, by invitation only-you couldn't buy a ticket if you wanted to. If I don't use my tickets, I have to cancel so they can choose another listener, so I can't sell my tickets. It will be at the Ryman theater in Nashville-home to the original Grand Ole Opry. Whole place holds about 2300 people-last time I saw him was with about 23,000 other people. It's historic. Garth has never played here before. He is doing this concert to kick off his XM channel and it will be broadcast live. I'm pretty sure this is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME opportunity.
Nashville is about 3 hours from us, quick road trip. We would stay at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel for 1-2 nights and enjoy some of Nashville. (transportation and hotel are NOT being provided by SiriusXM, we have to pay for that ourselves)
So what would you do? Trip to WDW now? Go see Garth and get to planning next year's Disney vacation?
I'm about 90% sure of my decision....just curious what others would do in this situation. If you don't love Garth, substitute a singer/band you do.
