Ok, im planning a disney wedding next december and really want to go in May time to plan and finalise a few things, but i cant afford that much really.

I want to stay on site, with airport transfers as neither me or my partner can drive.

Any suggestions as to where i can get the best deal??

The following words cannot be connected in the English language:

Disney
On-site
Cheap

Sorry.... ::MickeyMo

ITA, my cheapest deals are always off-site but as they usually have disney shuttles its not such a bad thing

Why not get married in the UK? that would be cheaper and then have a honeymoon in Florida?

If you have to go to Florida and are on a tight budget, you would need to look at hotels in either the Lake Buena Vista or International Drive area.

Staying on-site, as stated, is not cheap.

Though the word "cheap" is all relative to your expectations and disposible income.

I prefer the word(s) "value for money"

Discuss. ::MickeyMo

Have you thought about doing it all yourself in terms of flights and accommodation.

As long as you are not travelling over a bank holiday or over half term week in May you may be able to get a good deal on flights, especially if you are willing to have an indirect flight (assuming you have no kids).

For Disney accommodation I would definitely look at booking directly with Disney or via a Travel Agent that is a Disney specialist (Dreams Unlimited who sponsor these boards are brilliant, I recommend Penny or Merrie). If you are going back in Dec then why not get an Annual Pass for 1 (or both) of you. Although having a Disney AP doesn't guarantee a room discount it seems that people usually do get one, especially in non peak times which early May would be.

For instance at the All Star resorts a room only would be $110 (approx) per night inc tax. If you were a member of the AA you might get about 10% off that but I guess if you don't drive that is not an option! The AP discount for May has not yet been announced but to give you an idea the discount for the All Star resorts for Jan (which is value season) is about $35 off per night.

Also remember if you do stay onsite then you can book Disneys Magical Express which will give you free transport to and from the airport.

Of course you can get some great bargains if staying offsite I just wanted to say that getting a package isn't always the cheapest option, especially if you have set your heart on staying onsite.

Nicola

PS good luck with the planning

Not always! This year we stayed on site at the Dolphin for just over £1000 for 3 weeks, which compared to the prices in the brochure is very cheap! and last yeah my friend stayed onsite at the carribean beach for 2 weeks for her and 2 kids and it came to £1700!

So it is possible!

Because -

1. Its not what we want!

2. It doesnt actually work out any cheaper - (it actually works out more expensive atm but thats dependant on the exchange rate!) we live near london and the places round here that are available for a reception are a rip off!!

3. It might sound selfish but if i had a wedding here then knowing my family it would end up a huge wedding with loads of relatives that ive probably only met once or twice when all that really matters in the 2 of us and our close friends and family!

Hi Laura!

I think that you have just proved my point on the "cheap" versus "value-for-money" and "it depends on your perspective" points that I made.

Assuming that we are talking mid-season & accomodation only, £1000 for two or £1700 two plus two (no flights or car) is, for me, expensive. Staying off-site, I can buy a hotel/car/flight package from Virgin and spend all my planning time on an itinerary rather than arranging the biots of the holiday for (say) £1750 for two, £2100 for three?

If on the other hand you can three weeks with flight, car and Dolphin for £1000 for two, you'd better tell me where please, please

Like I said, cheap to one is expensive to another? ::MickeyMo

return flights and the Disney 21 day ultimate ticket!!

Sorry but I'm not quite sure why you need our help then, if you can get 3 weeks including tickets for that price. Just book again with the same tour operator :)

Definitely - that is very cheap, would be interested to know where you booked it.

have you contacted the Disney wedding planners?....from what i've heard, disney weddings, even the cheapest, are very costly.....
a friend of mine was planning on marrying at WDW, but when she saw the cost she changed plans....
since she's French (but we forgive her for that little defect), she and her fiance flew to Paris, got married by a judge in his office, and then flew to WDW for their honeymoon....

i don't know if you can do something like that (just be married by a judge in an office)....since they were married that way, only her immediate family was there and at lunch in a restaurant afterwards, but it wasn't a party or anything...that's the way my friend wanted it...just a few people...her parents, siblings....his family wasn't even there (he's not french -- they had a small dinner with his family when they got back here after their honeymoon)....

the day after the wedding ceremony, she and her brand new husband flew off to WDW and had a grand time.....spending all the money they would have spent on a wedding, on their vacation...

I have to agree here, we wanted to do the trip on the cheap as there is me, DH, DS 15, DS 14, DD 11 & DD 8 so it worked out very expensive for all 6 of us. Travel city direct were by far the cheapest by a large amount oo....this gave us more $$$$$$ to spend. We are booked with them for 2 weeks from Jan 06 in a private villa.
