I am hoping those who have went to one of these shows before will be able to help me. We are going tonight at the IZOD center in the Meadowlands Sports Complex in NJ. I would like to bring a bag about 10 in high by 8 inches wide and about 5-6 inches from front to back. It has 2 straps on the back, so a small child could use it as a backpack but it wouldn't be able to hold a folder for school. It says on the website "no Backpacks or large bags." I don't think that this is either of one those but I am not sure :confused3 . I have 3 children and I was hoping (because I have read on the boards, to help save $) to take some snacks and water bottles with us. I was wondering what other people have brought with them to the ice shows (bags, size, problems?) and also did anyone have a problem bringing snacks in? I was thinking like goldfish and pretzels. Thank you for your help! Your positive feedback is greatly appreciated! :flower3:

I've brought a diaper bag filled with drinks and snacks to every show I've ever been to with the kids. I've never been questioned about it. They really do a very brief scan of the bag in my experience. I think you should be fine.

Thank you very much! I didn't think it would be that big of a deal but I figured I would ask. What's the worst thing that could happen?..... My DH would have to run back to the car!! hahaha Thanks again!

Bringing your own snacks is a great idea. When we went, they just asked us to open up our purse to check for weapons of mass destruction!! We went to Disney on Ice this past weekend and freaked out about the prices!! Popcorn - $7, Cotton Candy - $10 (it came with a tinkerbell fairy hat) and the Tinkerbell Snowcone cups were $10 each....the girls NOT wanting the $20 twirly light up thing...PRICELESS!!

I forgot to add, you can bring your camera, too. They won't care.

I thought I would just post an update for those other DIS fams that have not been to an "ice" show. The show was last night and we had an amazing time!! It was the Disney on Ice, Disneyland adventure with the Incredibles (but it could have been the Disney World adventure too. Just about everything was the same and the kids did not know the difference). The kids had the greatest time. My DD5 and my DS7 went crazy everytime another character came out :dogdance: . I think my DS hurt the woman's ears in front of him :listen: ! It was worth every penny (The tickets were discounted around $20, with ticketmaster because it was opening night) and now that we know how the show is we will be going again at whatever price.

They gave us a flyer for High School Musical on ice coming soon and my kids are counting the days! It was so nice to have a little piece of Disney close to home.

About the bag. I did bring the bag I described in my post and I had no issue at all. I didn't even get a bag check. There was a couple of people kind of looking at you as you walked by but nothing personal. In fact the woman sitting in front of me had a giant backpack stuffed full. I don't know if she had to be checked but I think that is pushing it a bit when they say "no backpacks" and you actually bring one. Regardless, I wouldn't go to that extreme but a bag with a few snacks and juice boxes was clearly not a problem.

There was plenty of people walking around selling things and I did give in to the temptation of my children wanting something. They each got one thing, my DD8 a Dash mug snowcone $8.00, my DS7 a foam Dash hair and eye mask with cotton candy $10.00, my DD5 a Cinderella mug with snowcone $10., Oh and did I mention my DH who had to have the Syndrome flame head with mask and popcorn for $10.00! It was so much fun and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I looked at it as, we got the tickets pretty cheap so it was kind of like we paid the difference in a treat for everyone.

There was one scene in the Haunted Mansion that a few of the younger kids around us did not like. It was dark with Ghosts and blacklights. We loved it. My kids were a great age for this show. I think my DD5 was on my lap for that one but nothing major.

One last thing, I don't know the layout of everyplace this show goes to but we were the center section, floor level, facing the stage. We were about half way up. The center was great because most of the show was directed that way but the floor was not. It was raised but not as much as the sections around the stage. I had a huge man in front of me who's head was level with mine and my neck hurt by the end of the night trying to see around him. My kids had to stand because they couldn't see either. My DH had the most considerate of all people in front of him because in the beginning of the show, he told him if you lean right I will lean left. So it worked Okay for him. Next time, I will get one of the more elevated seats. They were a bit more of a distance from the stage but at least we all would have been able to see.

If anyone is going and has any questions for me please ask and have fun! :cheer2:

Yes, your right, I forgot to put that in too. We went right up to the ice before the show and took pictures. My DH also spent most of the show trying to get a good pic! It is kind of hard in the dark with a digital camera and no tripod :) . We did get some good ones though. Especially in the foam masks!

We have gone to Disney on Ice every january for the past 12 years. The showsa re always great. We too always bring snacks. My deal is I buy a snowcone and anyting else theya re on their own. last weekend that meant a $10 bag of cotton candy to share with a parir of crown Mickey ears. Not too bad. They shared it and the ears went up in their (shared) bedroom.

We saw HSM on Ice last year. It is high energy and fun, if your kids like HSM they will love it!!! The snnowcones came in 3 cups for that show. My kids picked the most expensive ($15) so I said I would pay $10 (mid price one) and they could pay the difference. I am so glad they got them. They are a washable clear plactic "glass" that removes froma base. The base has a handle and the shadow background of the characters and it flashes lights that shine through the glass. They use them all the time for movie nights and stuff and they LOVE them. I love them becasue you can throw the "glass" part in the dishwasher and becasue they batteries are replaceable (I hate the ones that aren't.) Well worth the money IMO!

DH took the girls the first year it came out, and he said the skaters were falling left and right! Of course, this actually made it better for him - I wasn't feeling well, so he sucked it up and went (actually, he also took them to HSM Live, too, poor guy).

I loved to watch this show, hopefully we can on our next trip. My kids will probably enjoy this moment.

Have a nice day everyone.:)
