both mine and my moms hours have been cut back at work and now my mom says we should cancel our trip and wait till november to go back. i really dont want to cancel so im trying to crunch the numbers. any tips for doing disney on a budget??

If you don't want to cancel, well that suggests that hotels etc... might have been booked already. The biggest expense therefore will be food and drink. When we go in Easter we plan on taking as much as we can in our bags or in the back of the car, crisps, sweets, fruit and cereal bars for when we have the munchies. A bottle of squash and refillable bottles for the day, a couple of screw cap bottles of wine from Tesco for back at the room in the evening. Hoping that there is an ice machine somewhere in Sequoia Lodge to be able to chill them in the sink:laughing: . We'll be hitting the breakfast buffet as much as we we dare to smuggle out rolls etc.. for lunch too.

If you haven't booked anything yet then we used the promotion code "friend" to get 10% discount on Seafrance ferries.

How long are you going for? Could you reduce your nights/days booked to get a shorter Disney fix?

If you can't, you can still go and not have to spend much money. I have never spent more than 200 euros on a full 3-days in the parks. Thats for one adult and one child to pay for, including souvenirs, all food, and one table service meal per evening. I could cut that down further if I had to (and I might have to for our next trip). I could cut out the table service dinners, that would save me about 40 euros. I could persuade my daughter to have a smaller souvenir (after all, its not like we've never been before) - that would save me another 20 euros or so. You could do it even cheaper with a child Ash's age - buy her a Disney toy in the sales here, and take it with you to give to her as her prize when you are at DLRP.

So, I could take 150 euros with me for 3 days, and I'd have enough money. If its the choice between not having table service meals and big toys, and not going at all, I'd choose to scrimp a bit and go. The best bits of DLRP are free - the rides, the shows, the character interaction   .

I hope you manage to get there,

thanks i agree the best parts are free once you get there. i would definately prefer to go on a budget than not go at all.

Avoid the shops ! lol
Eat a big breakfast, small fast food / snack lunch ( take your own) and then one of the cheaper eateries for dinner

It is definitely better to go on a budget, than not at all :goodvibes

We had no sending money! we took 300 euros... keep in mind 100 of these were for christmas presents.. so 200 euros for 5 days 4 nights... we... spent half of it.. haha... ended up buying more things in shops and still bought back 40 euros... prepare... take a flask to fill with hot choc in morning etc... you can do it!! fill up in morning, make rolls... matthews fav was rolls with ketchup/meats etc.. i did cream cheese rolls, i took marmite in luggage and made boys marmite rolls... then did dinner at mc donalds (somewhere we never usually step foot in! haha) it was fine! only 5 days! i just ate for energy... to be honest we were so caught up in the magic.. i didnt have time to stop and eat! hahaha.. we filled up on popcorn! haha

what have you already booked?

Could you not scale down to a cheaper accomodation. Or even go to the HI instead?

def get the half board vouchers - and then try and eat at buffets to get as much food as u can - eating later like 2pm, and then take snacks with u!!

we spent about £250 (not inc half board) and that includes the fuel there and back & loads of souveniers!!!! i think it can be done, just take lots of food with u....

the trip & magic comes from the joy on the childrens faces, and the magical feeling when there - those r free!!!!

am sure u can do it, let us know what u have booked, and what needs to be booked, am sure everyone on here can find codes etc for whatever u need to book!!

* Fill a sports bag with carton drinks, take empty water bottle to fill with water for drinks around the park.
Take some snacks.. choc bars, crisps etc.. for snacks and drinks around the park

* You could pack cup soaps and pot noodles etc to eat in ur hotel room or around park and can fill flask with boiling water

* Fill up on your breakfast, take a plastic lunch box & Flask with u and fill with Croissonts and rolls.. make up cheese rolls from the breakfast buffet for lunch in the park.
Fill flask with tea/coffe or hot choc

* Eat in Mc Donalds or any of the other fast food/ Counter service resturants.
(You could order a giant pizza and small portion of chips to share instead of a meal each)

* Avoid the shops, as they are very tempting but also very expensive
:scared1:
