Disney officially announces D23

I was about to join till I found out how much they're gouging International members.

You'd think they'd have the brains to set up European and Asian bases - that way more people would join.

Disney's First Official Fan Organization Launches with
New Quarterly Publication, Web Site, Fan Events and Collectibles Line

Disney's worst kept secret is now out. The "Are You 23" promotion was indeed for a new fan club, annual membership of which will cost $74.99.

So, who's joining?

Me!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Just joined!!! :woohoo: It was the "C" word (collectibles, people!! !) that did it for me... :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Had the package sent to my friend's house in Davenport as I'll be seeing her in April and the s&h was free instead of $58 to the UK... :sad2:

Am i being dumb but do you have to be 23 to join? I'm 26 so does this make me to old?

Sheesh, now you tell me. You'll be seeing her in April, I'll be seeing you in April...;)

No you can be any age Emma, it is only called D23 because the Disney company was founded in 1923.

Coz if you did have to be 23, only half of me could apply for membership... :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I'm looking forward to the DISUnplugged podcast :)
Disney have missed the mark expect fans to come up with this amount of subscription and then penalising overseas fans.

Pete is expected to have a good old rant :thumbsup2

If the dollar was weaker against Sterling then it wouldn't be as bad. I'm still in two minds whether to join or not.

Its the magazine thats the key, if they didn't offer it then I would'nt be considering it.

I know Barnes & Noble are going to sell it Stateside, I guess we're not going to be so fortunate as to have Borders sell it over here like they used to with the Disney Magazine?

That rant was brutal!!

If you aren't looking for a rose tinted view of D23, I would recommend listening to it!

I personally won't, I see it as a kick in the teeth for both general and international fans everywhere. By advertising it as the 'official fan club' they are showing what they think of their hardcore fans, a cash machine. If you are into Disney Collectables and history of Disney, this would be great for you. However this as representative of what all fans really want isn't something I want to endorse right now, I might if it branches out more.

This is not meant to be mean to anyone who's bought into D23 in any fashion, if you think its worth it, then its worth it. However for me, it really isn't.

Its excusable a price maybe if your American and really have serious cash to burn (but really who does at the moment?)

I would join otherwise, but the site stuff is free and the magazine is a more reasonable price. Gonna get my boyfriend in the states to get the mag from Barnes and Nobels instead. I dont really care about the collectables (I mean $300+ for a pen? for an exclusive club gift? pfft) and you still have to pay to enter the Expo on top of all that. It just isnt worth it

I became a member of D23 on 13th March, got my membership number sent with the confirmation email:thumbsup2 Just got to wait for all of the bits to be sent, it still had not shipped yesterday and judging by the time difference it's being sent from California:worship: :worship: :worship: That's my Mothers Day gift sorted out and my birthday gift too :cloud9:
