I've got a vacation day today so I decided to catch Shang-Chi earlier this morning on D+ ...

I don't know if it's just the Roku app I use, but the Marvel films were defaulting to the new IMAX ratio added today. I didn't mind it, but it took some getting used to after letter-boxing all these years. You can select the standard theatrical versions if you scroll down a bit, but if I press the 'play' film, it was selecting IMAX. Just a head's up if folks think the film's ratio looks a bit strange

Your device and Disney+ are supposed to select the best option for you. If you have a 4K HDR TV. It should select the IMAX version of the movie first.

Isn't it IMAX only in certain scenes? Sometimes I find it jarring when the aspect ratio changes mid-movie like that.

That would explain it ... I'm running a Roku Ultra to my 4K TV. It's a sweet setup as I can get Dolby Vision and Atmos sound, but I think I blasted through 15 GBs just streaming Shang-Chi. Thankfully I have no bandwith caps (so far) in my area

Okay. I think it was Black Widow then that would switch. I remember seeing it in IMAX and it would do that for the big action scenes.

Yeah it can be jarring sometimes when it quick cuts to full IMAX. I know Infinity War, Endgame, Shang Chi and the Eternals were all filmed in full IMAX, hopefully that’s the case going forward with the MCU.
