Thanks for starting the new 2022 thread!
Pre-pandemic, yes, both water parks would be open by May...now...who knows! Last year they just had 1 water park open, but with an almost normal resort and park capacity now it will likely just depend upon staffing...do they have enough lifeguards for all the main resort pools and 2 water parks?Does anyone know if both the water parks are normally open in May

A New Patent Shows that Disney Parks Might Be Going Virtual

The Walt Disney Company was granted a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on December 28th for what is being described as “a virtual-world simulator in a real-world venue.” In simple terms, Spectrum News 1reported that “They want to turn a real-world venue into a virtual world simulation” according to John DeStefano, a patent and technology technical adviser with Founders Legal.
According to the patent, “Disney plans to create a virtual world simulator, perhaps inside a room or different parts of the park, that includes a hardware processor, a tracking system and ‘a handheld device configured for use by a user in the real-world venue and communicatively coupled to the computing platform.'” DeStefano described Disney’s potential application of this patent as “They are going to map the environment first, track users in the environment and project the corresponding virtual simulation in the actual real-world venue.”
Best news I’ve seen in a while, I hated those things!! I cracked my knee going through more than once
Typical Disney! Removing beloved attractions!Best news I’ve seen in a while, I hated those things!! I cracked my knee going through more than once![]()
When the parks are packed though why are they offering incentives? There are no incentives for anyone except AP holders & this. So I don’t get the reasoning. For anybody wondering, it was part of an offer last year to replace the UK's version of "Free Dining" in addition to 14 day ticket for the price of 7 day, and the amount varied by resort![]()
I would guess 9pm for both? Pre-pandemic Epcot was almost always at 9pm year-round. As of March, after Daylight saving time starts, both Magic Kingdom and Epcot are at 9pm....who knows what May will end up with...Magic Kingdom might be at a different time, but I'd guess Epcot will still be at 9. It's usually partly dependent upon park closing time. When does the fireworks in Epcot and MK is expected to go off at in May. Trying to plan a few things
They've always done incentives for UK guests as WDW and DLP are the two main locations UK guests visits, that and the lighter crowds last Summer were likely impacted by a lack of international guests (UK summer holidays are different to US as they are usually the last week of July to the end of August)When the parks are packed though why are they offering incentives? There are no incentives for anyone except AP holders & this. So I don’t get the reasoning.
