My 2nd time in 10 years to Disney (YIKES) ...
How are the crowds Oct 5th - 8th?
We've planned MK on the 5th (EMH) but we are thinking about Epcot, and either MGM -or- AK, but I figured since we were staying @ AKL that we should do MGM :confused3 .. anywho, any "must sees" at the parks as well? Tips, hints? I've gone to MGM recently (Espn the weekend) but havent seen MK since like '95? and never been to AK/Epcot.

Judging from the lack of rooms available and the lack of ADR times, it may be busy that weekend. The food and wine festival is just starting in Epcot so there may be lots of people that are attending that.

www.touringplans.com has a best day chart that gives the days a number that relates to how busy the park is on any given day and it tells you the parks to avoid and parks you should do. You may wanna check it out. MY days are 6-5-4

I will be at the MK on Saturday 10-29-05. Now, the touringplans calender recomends MK as one of the parks to visit on all the Saturdays in October, but yet everyone else is saying to stay away from the MK on a Saturday because of the large crowds. Are October Saturdays really that bad crowd wise? Well let me ask this...is an Oct. Saturday worse than say a typical weekday in early June? I was there the first 2 weeks in June and it was pretty crowded at the MK. Thanks!!!

We went last year from October 6-12, and it was a great time to go. The parks weren't really crowded, and the weather was great (it only rained 1 day). By the way, the food & wine festival at Epcot is great! Make sure you go through & sample all the neat foods! We didn't even know what it was until we got there, and we ended up going back every day to try different things. It was fun.

Crowds may seen bad to you at any day, but be assured they are small compared to busier times of the year. I would always stay away from MK on the weekends, but you know if your schedule works best there leave it on for Saturday. Even with the F&W fest at Epcot, I don't think it is very busy.
Have a great time!

Yeah, we were curious how much does the F&W festival cost?
We've planned, thus far, for MK on Wednesday (EMH) and either AK/MGM on Thurs, and Epcot on Friday I think. Might do Epcot on Thursday though due to F/W festival and a Friday might not mix well.

The F&W festival doesn't cost anything unless you buy food or drinks at the vendors. There are booths are set up all around the World Showcase. There are also workshops, special events and tastings you can attend that you have to pay for also.

Don't forget that there are free seminars daily of cooking demos and wine
tastings. The schedule is in the Festival Guide that can be picked up
before entering World Showcase. The special dining events are booked
in advance through Disney Dining.

For the person who asked about the food booths, the samples will
range usually around $2-$5 each, depending on the sample.

Have a great trip, you will enjoy the crowds  :Pinkbounc

oh, I also have another newbie question ..
Are there any fireworks and what shows are 'must sees' at the parks?

I went to MK on a Saturday evening in early December once and it was gridlock, compared to the slow crowds during weekdays. We had also been to MGM that morning and experienced much higher crowds there than a day the previous week.

I have NEVER been to WDW parks on a Saturday since (a lot of locals must visit the parks, or maybe weekend vacationers). On my upcoming trip we will go to Seaworld one Saturday, USIA the following Saturday, and as its the day before we fly home, I have planned to go to Epcot on the last Saturday. Epcot tends to be quieter during the weekend than the week so I have heard. We shall see.
