I saw an earlier thread but wanted to ask some fellow Canadians! Has anyone signed up for it? Did you find it worth it?

The other thread stated that most Disney movies are cheaper at Target but since we do not have the same prices up here, did you find the DMC still worth it??

I just joined because most of my Disney movies were on VHS. Now that we have large HD televisions, we can only watch the tapes on an old TV. I really wanted my DDs to enjoy some of the classics they watched over and over as preschoolers.

I think I had a deal of no shipping, and something like 50 cents a movie if paying be credit card. I got as many as I could with the initial order (including the extra .. pay $10), and now I only need to get 3 more movies at regular price instead of 4.

Total initial order $30.40 for 7 titles.

The regular-priced movies are generally $24.95, and then they hit you with shipping charges. I'm waiting until there are 3 titles I want, and then placing one large order. Then I'll cancel the membership.

2nd order for 3 titles, plus shipping, plus HST $96.84.

By then I'll have had 10 DVDs which will work out to aprox $12 each. Not the absolute cheapest - but I did find older movies which are not currently on shelves.

I wouldn't stay a member, because I can find new releases much cheaper from Wal-mart or Costco.

It's the initial deal that is making me want to join..

Thanks for the feedback!

::yes:: That's the question you have to ask yourself ... would you buy those initial titles anyways. I was going to have to go out and find those replacement titles anyways, so I saved money and was able to do one-stop shopping to boot. But, I equated the cost of the regular purchases later too when making my decision.

I've seen some of the older Disney DVDs go for $10 at Wal-mart, but you would have to spend time and mileage searching for the specific titles. Regular new releases tend to be around $22, so $25 is not too bad a mark-up.

All of my VHS are in the fault right now so I cant replace them (Little Mermaid, Lady and the Tramp, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White) and my VHS still works so they will have to wait.

I really wanted all the Toy Story and Wall-E, etc. I did see they have Robin Hood! That is my favorite from my childhood!

I wonder if the released from the vault movies can be purchased from the DMC??

They do have Beauty and the Beast - I didn't see the others. You can always browse the website before committing.

One that I picked up was "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" which you rarely see around anymore. They also have adult movies, and television DVDs like the whole Lost set.
