Disney Mobile Magic App available to Canadians

Disney has released their Mobile Magic App on the Canadian App store. It can only be downloaded to the iPhone. It cannot even be seen on the iPad.

To find it search the app store of Disney Mobile Magic on your iPhone.

Looks good but will only be fully functional in the parks with data and roamng charges applicable.

I had the American one previous but never got to try it in the park. I am quite concerned about the data charges for the app, especially for location services.

Location Services on an iPhone doesn't require any data usage. With Data Roaming disabled (which is the default setting) location services works fine. It uses a combination of GPS signal, cell-phone tower triangulation (which doesn't use any data) and known Wi-Fi hotspots to figure out where you are.

Really? So you can use these WDW apps without Data Roaming? Wow. Who knew!
I have the Lines App from Touring Plans, and just for fun look at it at home. But I've never tried using it at the parks for fear of Data Roaming charges.

Well, not really. Just the location services. But any data such as wait times, FP availability, park hours or anything else the app has to download from the Internet (and that's the only way you can get current times) requires data roaming to be accurate in the parks. Basically the most useful things in any app require data roaming. It's only showing you where you are on the app's map that doesn't. But even that could if it uses something like google or bing maps and then that will use data as well.

Is this supposed to be available yet on the Android in Canada? It won't let me download it
Any news on when it will be available on the droid....for those in Canada?

Will give it a try at the park next week on my iPod Touch. Not sure how the location services work as I'll tether through my Blackberry.

Was just going to say this. DD has an iPhone. I am fairly ignorant about them. I am guessing with Wifi she can use this app in the MK without roaming or data charges?

Yes, it's free wifi. Disney will also be releasing a new app, My Disney Experience, later this month to replace Mobile Magic. It will be on iPhone,iPad,itouch and Android devices.

Just saw this!!! I was a little jealous of dd because she's the only one that can get it. She has the iPhone .. we have blackberry. However.. then I remembered her old iPod touch that she gave to her brother. It's charging now and hopefully the OS is compatible. We plan to split up in the parks a bit since she's bringing a friend, so it's nice that both groups of us will be able to use it
