I need help from someone who has one of the Mixsticks and had experience with downloading songs. We got my DS one of these for Christmas because he is only 10 and felt he was still a bit young for an expensive Ipod. We bought him the clip with movie music on it, but he isn't interested in the other clips. We have been trying to download music onto it and have hit a brick wall. We have tried to take music from his CD'S but after we get it onto the program we hit a snag because the music is copywrited and won't let us get it onto the stick. My dad is going to try to burn the CD and get rid of the copywrite issues which I hope will work, but who knows. Itunes doesn't recognize it even though you are supposed to be able to use it as an MP3 player. Where else can we get music from besides Itunes? We are getting very frustrated and I am beginning to think I should have just gotten him the darn Ipod. Can anybody help me with this? I would be eternally grateful to anyone who can give us some pointers. I am about ready to return it because if I can't get anything downloaded then the darn thing is worthless!

My son (11) got one for his 10th birthday. He downloads stuff quite often. I on the other hand, have no idea how to do anything like that. I'll ask him to help as soon as he gets home tonight from his karate school. He really likes his!!

I have been wondering this same thing? DD7 has been bugging me to download music for her.

I went to www.disneyelectronics.com yesterday and downloaded a program to my Windows Media Player, but am still unable to download from our itunes library?

Looking forward to hearing hopefully an easy solution:goodvibes

I just open up the mix stick as a folder, open iTunes, and then drag and drop each song from the 'music' portion of the iTunes library to the open 'Mix stick' folder. It hasn't failed except when they were apple formatted music. They have to be either an MP3 or WMA file to work.

For copywright problems, you would need to use a free 'ripper' (available for download from CNET at download.com.) The free or shareware versions usually don't see the copyright encryption.

You could also use filesharing software like shareaza (available at shareaza.com) and download the music from someone else, which shouldn't be encrypted either. You are within your legal rights on the filesharing, so long as you posess a legally purchased copy (CD, purchased download, etc.) ,and you make the downloaded copy unavailable for download by anyone else. After download, once again, just drag and drop from one folder to the mix stick folder.

Any of the aforementioned have worked for me.

Thank you so much! I am somewhat computer illiterate, but I will have my DH read your information and try it. How much of this costs $$ to do? Is there a way to download songs for little or no money?

The directions with the Mix sticks say you must go through Windows media player. There you rip the songs off the CD and sync them to the mix stick. Terminolgy will become apparent when you go to the Windows media player. Be sure you don't have any cards in the Mix stick when you do this. It should work for all your CD's. This will save you big bucks.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!:yay:

You do not directly down load it. I down load my songs onto my computer and plug my mp3 in and down load it on to my mp3 with Windows Media Player. Man,I'm such a nerd:hyper:  :happytv:

I let my 11 y/o type the above answer!! Hope it helps!

I am assuming you mean the program that comes on disc with the mixstick. If that is the case we tried that and it didn't work.

I believe that Wal-Mart.com downloads for pretty cheap. I think it is like 88 cents a song.

Thank you so much everyone:goodvibes. We were having such a hard time and I knew if I put a thread on here someone would know what to do and I was right:cool1:. I won't hesitate to do so again if we have other problems. We were able to download the burned CD my Dad made and also go back and rip a different one and get them both into the player:woohoo:. We grealy appreciate your suggestions and will try using Walmart.com to get some things he doesn't have on CD's. My son was very excited to have some songs to listen to on his stick.

Thanks Again:love:
