I thought it would be fun to see what other people have told you about disney that you know to be wrong. I've got a few:

When trying to book a trip to disney Paris last year going by Eurostar 2 different travel agents told me that they could only get me as far as Paris as there wasn't a train station any closer! They didn't believe me when I said there was a station almost at the entrance, I didn't book my trip through either of them!

I have just got a quote from a travel agent for WDW for next April. The travel agent told me that the 14 day ultimate park ticket included food!

2 trips ago one of my colleagues told me stay to the very end of the fireworks as Cinderella abseils down the castle at the end!

The same colleague also told me to go the Walmart to buy souvenirs as Disney didn't have anywhere to buy any!

For our first trip in 2008 I booked a Thomas Cook Signature package. I wanted to book a character meal for DD and I (she was only 6 so very much still a child). I was told that you have to pre book with the T/A and take the limo package at £100 (plus some change) as you could not take a taxi or Disney transport to this.

Fortunately, horrified at the notion of being charged more than I spent on a month's groceries for a breakfast for myself and a little one, I did my own research and discovered the truth. :rotfl2:

I was also told that if I didn't attend the welcome meeting, I would not receive any of the vouchers. When I stated I didn't want the vouchers, all of a sudden I was told to look for the rep at the airport. Well he was there, waiting for me, lol and handed me a wad of vouchers, all of which had expired more than a year prior (but none of which would have had any use for me). There were many things I was told that were utter nonsense. Some of the smaller things I only learned about after the trip, but nothing that had any bearing what we paid or what we did there. There were other issues like the character meal story which prompted me to do some searching and I then discovered the DIS and lurked for a good couple of years and gained a wealth of information, before finally joining :)

Whilst changing some money in our local travel agents I overheard the TA telling an old couple and their granddaughter that they were building a new Fantasy theme park ( Fantasyland expansion) , My husband actually held me back before I put him right , but I wish I had , I'd hate to think they went mis-informed.

Also Similarly , when people on my friends lists on Facebook share obviously fake 'competitions' to win park tickets , I always correct them as , it is obvious it's a scam.

It quite scary how much incorrect information there is out there, I'm so glad I found the Disboards!

I was finding these stories quite amusing but it must be horrible to spend so much money and receive such dodgy information.

I certainly put my faith in my travel agent on my first trip (in 1998).

Yes especially when it is advertised as Disneyland Florida or something ridiculous.

There's always the "hire a wheelchair to get to the front of the line" lie that people tell.

Oh that really gets to me , a friend of a DH's carer had the cheek to tell me they we're doing that with her Dad to skip the queues at Alton Towers! She knew full well My DH uses a wheelchair full time, he can't ride many rides in Disneyworld now but the ones he can we often have to wait twice as long as they have to bring the wheelchair car or boat onto the circuit or wit for it to come back around.

I had someone once ask me for my Blind registration letter because they wanted to take it to Alton towers to get the wristbands for queue skipping! She didn't even know me that well and just thought she'd ask because her kid is a pain and whinges continuously when he's not getting what he wants.

How funny :) ...I'm already imagining it!! Cinderella gliding down from the Castle (as the clock starts to strike midnight), she lands inside her carriage which then sets of at top speed down Main Street (crowds are roped off) only to magically transform back into a pumpkin again as she reaches the Town Square... she then has to run off in the direction of the firehouse in her rags before she is spotted....

I can just imagine that! It's a bit of a joke at work now every time I come back someone asks if I saw her abseiling this time!

:faint: Perhaps he whines and winges because he hasn't learnt how to cope with being told "no" and "wait" Kids are born that way, lol.

That one made me laugh out loud :lmao:

Not a T/A but on the monorail to Epcot one day we overheard the family opposite us answering their young child's question about the big round thing (Spaceship Earth). The father went on to give this little kid a long, detailed explanation of the history of golfing in Florida and how it was an icon constructed to symbolise the importance of the golfing culture ...... I think I gently kicked DD not because she was going to say anything, but because she seemed oblivious to the fact that them facing us, they could see her eyes out on stalks and the faces she was making :lmao:

Also had a CM at the TT entrance late into an EMH evening, spinning a yarn. The wait time looked excessive considering the time and how late the park was. Knowing they often don't update the boards late at night, I asked her how accurate this was. With all sincerity she looked me straight in the eyes and said "Ma'am, it is 60 minutes. This is the most popular ride in the whole of Disneyland." This was slightly concerning considering she clearly appeared to be employed on the other side of the country ..... :rolleyes2

I've also been told it's not the real Mickey Mouse , just a man in a suit :rotfl2:

Like that could ever be true :rotfl2:

:p

After years of travelling with VH and TCD as a solo traveller with no issues I decided to compare other TA. Went on the Thomson website with constant messages of no holidays available for my dates, put in for two people travelling, guess what? Plenty of availability. So went to the Thomson store in town after my emails to Thomson on this discrimination went unanswered. WDW resorts apparently do not do single rooms (I know) and that is the reason they don't do quotes for solo travellers, she also had no clue where Disneyland was.
The biggest myth is they are checking your bags for food and drink and will confiscate any they find
