Hi,
I haven't been to Disneyland since before Covid and it appears all the menus are now pared down? Are the menus on the app correct? There is so little on each menu that I am looking at, that I am wondering if I am not looking in the right places?

I was hoping for more lighter foods. IE not fried. I have a medical condition and in the past have always found it easy at Disneyland to get a plain grilled chicken, or fish or a salad but I am seeing less of that and more plant based sausages etc, which I cannot tolerate. Can someone point me in the right direction as to where to look at menus? And if they are really that small now, does anyone have any recommendations of where to eat? Thanks.

The menus on the app are accurate. Bengal BBQ is good for grilled meats and veggies. Several places offer grilled or roasted chicken (Cafe Orleans and Rancho Del Zocalo) and lots of restaurants also offer salads. I just recommend poking around to see what sounds good.

I was surprised on my last visit there- very limited choices and very few vegetables. I am not vegetarian, but prefer to eat plant-based meals (that are not meat substitutes). It was disappointing. There weren’t even lame salads at many locations.

Thank you. Good to know that they are accurate. I'll just have to investigate more. Thanks!

I am the same way. It is too bad. It used to be great for veggie burgers etc.

It's just funny how different people can have different perspectives. I feel like Disney has gone WAY overboard on the plant-based, healthy options--it feels like at least half of every menu is made up of these kinds of options. Sometimes I like to eat healthy, but sometimes I just want comfort food, and from my perspective Disney has swung the pendulum too far towards the healthy, not-very-appetizing-sounding items!

The new salad at Pyms is getting a lot of attention. I haven't tried it yet.

There are a few really good salads right now:

The “Celebration of The Farmers Market Spring Vegetables” at Carthay Circle restaurant (had it and loved it!)

The “Swaying Palms Salad with teriyaki chicken” at Tangaroa Terrace (haven’t tried it yet, but want to)

The “Gem Caesar” (add grilled shrimp!) at Hearthstone Lounge (had it and loved it!)

And many many more!

It is funny! I agree they’ve overdone the fake meat selections. A few examples of what I mean:
Hungry Bear:
Chicken sandwich
Chicken tenders
Burger
Salad with chicken
Impossible burger

Only vegetables are in the salad with the chicken (not sure if you can order without).

Flo’s
Cheeseburger
Fried chicken
Cobb salad (has meat and is a very heavy “salad”)
Club sandwich
Impossible burger

Aunt Cass
California Roll Sandwich
Curry Beef
Clam chowder
Mac n cheese
Noodle salad- shrimp or veggie
Turkey club

It’s all very heavy food with starchy sides. I can eat like this for a meal a day maybe, but all meals for multiple days and I just feel gross. There are a few things that looked good at Red Rose Tavern

Things I’d like to see (and might be missing for sure)-
Kale salad
Avocado toast or sandwich with lots of veggies
The cauliflower tacos they removed from the Rancho.
A lentil/bean salad
Side of broccoli/cauliflower/anything but baby carrots

It just feels like the variety has gone away so now we’re all unhappy! 🤣

Craftsman Grill has avocado toast for breakfast. Lamplight has it too for brunch though that one comes with steak.

I read this tip in one of the guidebooks, but I haven't personally tried it: Most of the salads and pastas are made before you order, but to get a freshly made one, ask them to leave something off. Anyone tried this?

Yes, and half the time they don’t even know what the food actually is…case in point…the “vegetable stew” at Harbour Galley and Royal Street Veranda. I thought it would be like beef stew minus the beef…nope, it’s actually gumbo :rotfl2: Well, I can’t eat onion, garlic or any allium plant plus okra. Why they just don’t call it what it is, I don’t know. Learned my lesson on that one.

Really, it’s almost impossible for me to eat in the park anymore and I love Hungry Bear, too. For my one burger of the trip, that’s my go-to.

Alas, I’m afraid I just have to survive on beignets while I’m there🤣😆 !

We are a vegetarian family with two picky eaters. We know we are in for pasta, pizza and maybe impossible burgers when we go and it does get pretty old.

There was a lot more selection for us before. I really miss the cozy cone vegetarian chili!

The plant based menu is great but geared to vegans and it doesn’t appeal to my picky eaters at all.
