Hi,

Both my sister and I are in EVCs and traveling with another couple. I just booked a land/sea package in a category 5 deluxe stateroom with veranda. The room number is 7138. Has anyone every stayed in this room before?

When I talked with the Disabilities Coordinator for Disney Cruise Lines, she said that all four of us could fit into a category 5 cabin. What do you guys think? We couldn't afford a category 3 which is what they were going to put us in first.

If anyone has any specifics on this room, I'd appreciate it, like how large, what's the layout of the bathroom like, etc.

The CM that I talked to really wasn't very helpful and when I asked for a HA room at the Poly, he said that he could only put in a request, but never asked if I needed a roll in shower or not. So, I'm thinking I'm going to have to call back and let someone know this information.

When I talked with the Disabilities Coordinator, she couldn't tell me how big room 7138 was.....which I thought was a bit odd being the Disabilities Coordinator. Oh well???

I forgot to mention that the CM that I booked the cruise with said that the room was 268 sq ft. That just didn't sound right to me. He said that the HA rooms were the same size as the nonHA rooms. But the Disabilities Coordinator told me that the HA rooms were larger and told me to go and look online under tour the ship and I could see that they are much larger than the standard size cabins in that category. So, I'm a bit confused......

Thanks!

Joy

you may want to post this on the Cruise boards. I remember someone posting the pics of the handicap rooms .

Joy- I've stayed in this stateroom and it does sleep 4. It's rather "long" and there's a huge closet and bathroom. The bathroom has only a roll in shower with fold down bench and no tub...plenty of space for someone in a w/c---Kathy

Hi Joy-- Just wanted to ask you, since I sent you here! :) Hope all is well. I have never done an ECV on DCL before, just my folding wc, and I did not get an accessible room since there are so few and I can manage OK if my dh helps me given that the tubs are super low and it's so small that there's plenty for me to grab into otherwise. I suggest that you contact special services re your room (call the regular WDW reservation line) as I am sure they will be able to help you with the land portion of your trip. I would not want to rely on some sort of vague comment from DCL about your rooms-- talk to the people who can make sure your needs are met and you have a magical trip!

Have a great vacation!!!

Normally when someone books a h/a room on the ship they will confirm one for you at the resort. I've done this before- a cm will call you to let you know what they've secured at the Poly which will be a room with a roll in shower. This is automatic unless you request a room at the resort with tub/rails. You will be in the Rapa Nui building which is the only building at the Poly that has accessible rooms. ---Kathy

They have to block you for a HA room at the Poly if you ask (and there is one available). Call them back and either make them send you a confirmation that says you have a HA room (then call the hotel to have them double check a few days before you leave), or ask to talk to special services or whoever it is who deals with special needs.
