Hi all sorry to ask this someone might of asked this already

we have booked for next year and staying on site at all star sports i have been told you can link your tickets to the bands to customise but we get the tickets when we land and pick them up from Thompson desk so is there anything I can do ? and another question how do you get the bands do they send them here or do I pick them up at hotel ? and just another quick question to all people using the bands now or have used them are they easy to use or has anyone had any problems with them

Sorry for all the questions it's first time away with partner and want to get things right

Hi, the bands are very simple to use and so much better than the KTTW cards. You just have to touch them to a key pad and it's done, we went in Feb and they worked perfectly, no issues at all. You don't get them delivered unless you live in the states, so you pick them up at your resort but you can customise them before you go, you can get different colours and your names on them.

If you have booked the package with Thomson they should be able to give you the disney reservation number. They will probably tell you they don't know it (TC did that to us) but keep asking, it's usually a 6 digit number if I remember rightly. That will link park tickets, hotel stays etc and will let you book ADR'S and FP's.
Hope that helps, enjoy planning!

I think the magic bands are great, we have our photos, fast passes, dining plan and debit card all linked up to it. We have had no issues throughout the whole holiday with exception of a few restaurants when they lose the wifi and it takes a few attempts to get it to work but these issues will iron out as time goes on

The qualification for free magic bands are an onsite stay not having tickets however you need valid tickets linked to your account to pre-book FP+.

You need to link your resort reservation to MDE - you will need your Disney reservation number from Thompsons.

Once linked you will be able to customise your bands :goodvibes

MB are fine to use - you will set up a PIN if you need to use either DP credits or room charge.

Just remember nothing is stored on the bands unlike the old KTTW cards - the MB just reads the information in your MDE account.

Can I assume that those of us not staying on site just use our tickets at the ride/attraction for the FP+ once we have linked it to MDE - seeing as though we won't have a band?

If you have RFID tickets, you'll use them at the ride's FP+ entrance. They scan just like the magic bands

you'll also be able to purchase a Magic Band at the parks for $12.95 a piece, even if you stay offsite, and a CM will link it to your MDE/

Thank you. And what does RFID stand for please?

All the tickets issued by Disney now have a RFID chip in them instead of using a magnetic strip. You just touch them against the reader they no longer have to be inserted :thumbsup2

Does that include tickets supplied by UK agents? I assume it does if you are saying all tickets issued by Disney. I still need to sort tickets for relatives who will be staying offsite in August.

I am so lost with the new system, glad we won't be going in Disney again after our AP's expire, its all too complicated now.:rotfl2:

Yes - all tickets are now RFID. If you have any old ones that are still valid you can just switch them at a ticket window for they new type.

We have some old no expiration tickets with water park days still on them and I just switched them in April and it took about 30 seconds!

I would make sure you choose a broker that issues real tickets though as there have been many reported problems about linking vouchers issued by third parties.

That's good that old non exp tickets can be easily switched - just wondered can resort desks do that or does it have to be parks?

Also on the bands ,will it identify us as DVc members as it used to be written on the kttw cards - so it was easy to get discount in certain restaurants?

Thanks

No the MB will not identify you as a DVC member - the only accepted form of membership ID now is your actual membership card :thumbsup2

Sorry, missed this part! I just did them when we walked past an empty ticket booth at the park. I always try to do anything ticket related at the park ticket windows as they are the experts :thumbsup2
