First time cruise for DS9 and myself. DM is a veteran cruiser but new to DCL. Anyone familiar with this stateroom. Is this a quiet area of the ship? Limited motion sickness? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Category 4 with a transparent verandah railing. No connecting door to an adjacent room. Convenient to the Midships stairs/elevators. It may be somewhat noisy the night of the Tropical Deck Party, but will otherwise be reasonably quiet. As for motion sickness... you would have less motion on lower decks. Deck 8 is as high as you can go for a stateroom.

We have stayed on deck 8 as well as deck 7 and never really felt much motion at all. While I would agree that there is more opportunity up high, it has never been an issue for us. DCL has a very sophisticated stabalization/balancing system (like wings under the water).

I've stayed in room 8040 and it was great. I'm a heavy sleeper but I didn't hear anything. THe only thing we could hear occasionally were people walking above us -- but only those that had high heels on or clicky shoes. We couldn't hear the music or anything above unless we were on our verandah. It's a nice location, too, because the elevators are right there... and you're not too far from anything. Overall I would say it was a great location! Enjoy your time on the Magic.

Thank you all very much. The anticipation is building. Plan to take DS out after my work/his daycamp tomorrow (too bad I can't reverse that - lol) and purchase some lime-green ribbon!

We've stayed in 8542 and love the area. Its close enough to the elevators and a quick hop up the stairs for a coffee run in the am.
