We sailed on the Disney Magic 17/01/04 for 7 nights. After a busy first week we were looking forward to chilling this week, and chill we did!!
We had a navigator's verandah room on deck 7. Loved it. This was our third cruise having sailed Wonder twice before so knew what to expect from the ship however we had new ports of call and shows to discover.
The sail away party was great. The cast of 'According to Jim' an ABC sitcom starring Jim Belushi were on board for the duration. They shot in different locations through out but we never felt that they were an inconvenience or got in the way at all.
Our dining guests were great and the 6 of us got on well. We met a couple from Texas and a couple from Wyoming. Real nice people. You rotate round the dining rooms with the same guests and the same servers, we had Silvestre who was excellent. He made every effort to ensure we enjoyed our meals, we had 2 desserts one night, samples of food brought over, nothing was too much trouble.
The food in the restaurants and buffets was top class. We ate soooo much it is sickening. No complaints here.
The shows in the evening were as good as ever. We gave Hercules a miss as we have seen it twice already. We saw the Golden Mickeys which is new. I though it was OK but not as good as Dreams which is on at the end of the cruise. I love this show we saw the matinee and went back in the evening to see it again. It is pure Disney magic, makes you wanna cry you know! There were 2 entertainers a magician and a ventriloquist who were both good.
The ports of call. We stopped at Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Castaway Cay. All the stops were hot although we did not get off at Cozumel. Spent time having a wander around but did an excursion at GC. Had a bus tour and a stop at a turtle farm. The KW bus tour sold out so we missed that which was a shame. Castaway Cay is a beach day for sure. Allie snorkelled for a couple of hours and got very brown. I burn so after a while on the beach headed back to the boat for cocktails.
Best advice is to read the navigator you get every evening for the next day as there is so much to do if you want to. We actually prefer to do very little and select some shows, dinners, films through out the day. We spent so much time on our balcony in the sun/shade as appropriate. We ordered complimentary room service instead of walking up to the buffet some days and just watched the world sail by. Made sure the room cooler was stocked with the essentails, water and beer!
We love this cruise to relax and we really did. The week seemed to go on for ever, not in a chore way, what I mean is we relaxed from day 1 and loved every minute.
At dinner on the last night all 6 of us swapped e-mails and addresses and I hope that we do keep in touch.
I would recommend this to anyone. Excellent for families. All the activities are pitched at the family but there are seperate itineries for kids, (tiered in clubs from 12 weeks upwards), teens and adults. Definately somthing for everyone and then you just pick what you fancy. Oh, when's my next cruise......................
