With all the negative posts about FP+ and the death of magic, I wanted to post something positive.
We surprised our DD6 with a trip to WDW for her birthday. The trip was two weeks before her birthday during mid-winter break from school. She came home from school on a Thursday afternoon and found DH and me home from work. DH asked her if she would like to go to Disney and she said sure but didn’t think we were serious. DH brought her out to the car to show her the luggage was packed….she starting jumping up and down, yelling “Are you serious? Are you serious?” We told her we were going for her birthday and were planning to celebrate all week.
DD6 hasn’t believed in the costumed characters for about a year now….she knows they are people dressed up. She does still believe the face characters are real. She still has fun meeting the characters and I have told her that when we are in Disney, they are all real because it is just fun to pretend that they are.
Anyway, one of our MK days, we had scheduled our third FP+ for the Mickey Meet n Greet for after lunch, on our way out of the park. DD was wearing her birthday button. I knew that sometimes the talking Mickey is in one of the rooms at the meet n greet and DH and I were secretly hoping we would make it into that room.
There was a really long line but we bypassed it with the FP+ and they took us directly into a room where Mickey, the talking Mickey, was just saying his goodbyes to another family. DD was all smiles and in aw that Mickey was actually talking to her and greeted her warmly. He actually sang happy birthday to her and joked around that at 7, she would be ready to drive a car soon. I was all teary eyed to see her meet the talking Mickey.
The best part, as we are leaving the room, after warm hugs and good byes, DD turns to us and says, “That is the real Mickey Mouse….because he blinks and talks.”
That was the highlight of our trip but there were other small magical moments too, you just have to watch and take notice of them.

Definately a big part of why Disney World is still so special for us right now; we aren't in teenage drama years yet.
I would have been bawling!
